PART ONE
Now the telling of the tale begins.
Past the woods and mountains steep,
Past the rolling waters deep,
You will find a hamlet pleasant
Where once dwelt an aged peasant.
Of his sons - and he had three,
Th'eldest sharp was as could be;
Second was nor dull nor bright,
But the third-a fool all right.
Now, these brothers planted wheat,
Brought it to the royal seat,
By which token you may know
That they hadn't far to go.
There they sold their golden grain
Counted carefully their gain
And, with well-filled money bags,
Home again would turn their nags.
But, upon an evil day,
Dire misfortune came their way-
Someone, 'twixt the dark and dawn,
Took to trampling down their corn;
Never had such grief before
Come to visit at their door;
Day and night they sat and thought
How the villain could be caught,
Till at last it dawned upon them
That the way to solve the problem
Arid to save their crops from harm
Was, each night to guard their farm.

My name is Vitaly Belikov.
I'm a Scorpio born October 26, 1938 (Chinese year of a tiger).
I live in Melitopol, Ukraine, not far from the Sea of Azov.

I was a ship radio-operator from 1957 to 1960. Since 1965 I have been a dental surgeon.
I am a short wave radio amateur since 1958. My old call sign: UB5QD, a new one: US5QD.
I am interpreter-polyglot. My languages: Russian, Ukrainian, English, German, French,
Italian and I have some skills in Spanish and Swedish. I like and collect Latin
quotations.
I'm interested in finding new approaches to languages study. I wrote a book:
"How to study foreign languages independently. Polyglot's advice" and
recently I started another one: "Epistolary English". Now I collect useful
phraseology for it: the way native speakers start/end their letters.
There are various wishes, toasts etc there. Since 1983 I'm
engaged in ballroom dancing in the group of "Seniors". It keeps me fit.
My favourite writers: Jack London, O-Henry. Poets: Robert Burns, Omar Khayam etc.
I like short verses in the spirit of Omar Khayam, Ivan Barkov and other similar poets.
I collect wise quotations/expressions and respective books with those quotations.
Swing in the spirit of Glenn Miller is my kind of music that I like very much.
My favourite singers are Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella F & Nat Cole.
I collect music and songs according to my taste mentioned above, that's my passion!
Besides I like to sing myself. My friends say that it's all OK with my singing.
I like imitating the voices of elderly people and I would be able to speak for puppets.
I am a mountain tourist. My last travel was to the Kurile Islands (near Japan), 1992.
I like photography. I have a big collection of slides taken in different parts of the
world.
My sports: jumping acrobatics (I can still jump over head), jogging.
I started a club of joggers here. I'm making some exercises in bodybuilding and Hatha
Yoga.
I like to swim and dive and no wonder since I'm a Scorpio: the aquatic sign as
you perhaps know.
I'm interested in valeology (healthy way of life), non-traditional
methods of different diseases treatment and various self-help techniques.
My handbooks of this line: Louise L.Hay "You can heal your
life", Deepak Chopra "Ageless body, timeless mind", Joseph Murphy "The
power of your subconscious". Napoleon Hill "Think and grow rich" etc.
I help girls to find a lifetime partners abroad. I find this occupation very fascinating.
I have a vegetable garden but it is a necessary and a hard work rather than a hobby!
I like dry humour very much and I read and tell various anecdotes with big pleasure.
I like yachting. Regretfully I was always looking at yachts from the
outside - it's rather expensive! I am interested in pyramids and their
influence on the health of a human being.
I like cats and dogs. Three cats and two dogs are living in my house.
They like to join me while I'm jogging. (I beg your pardon, it is rather
the hobbies of my animals now! :-)
At times when I am not jogging I like biking or driving a car. I like to walk the
tightrope.
In addition I have a great interest in finding friends of the Ukraine in the entire world.
I like philosophy and psychology and I take interest in Buddhism. I believe in karma.
