The President approved main principles of general secondary education organization

The President of the Republic of Belarus approved, by its Decree No. 15 of July 17, 2008 the main principles of organization of general secondary education in Belarus. According to the Decree the general secondary education lasts for 11 years, and the basic education for 9 years. The secondary education comprises three stages, for four, five and two years respectively; the school year begins on 1 September and ends on 1 June, with a six-day school week which includes five school days and the Saturday as a day for recreational and vocational activities to be held at school.

The Decree entered into force on 19 July 2008.
