The President of the Republic of Belarus introduced measures to improve the activities of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of June 26, 2008 No. 14 the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus are entitled, in addition to the scope of powers stated in the Code on Judicature and the Status of Judges, to exercise obligatory preliminary control over constitutionality of all laws adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus before they are submitted to the President; to decide on constitutionality of treaties; to construe Decrees and Edicts of the President of the Republic of Belarus on the matters of constitutional rights and duties of citizens; to decide whether acts of foreign states, international organizations or their bodies that may affect the interests of the Republic of Belarus comply with the general principles and norms of the international law.

The Decree enters into force from the date of its official publication.

The Republic of Belarus acceded to the Protocol to the Convention for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) of July 5, 1978

By the Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 359-Z of June 23, 2008 the Republic of Belarus acceded to the Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) of July 5, 1978. The Convention of May 19, 1956 was concluded with the purpose to determine the standard conditions governing the contracts for the international carriage of goods by road, particularly with respect to the documents used for such carriage and to the carriers liability.

The law enters into force from the date of its official publication.
