Regulations for Holding Electronic Interactive Games Approved

The President of the Republic of Belarus created, by adopting the Decree No.6 of 10 April 2008 On some matters on organizing and holding electronic interactive games and the Edict No. 201 of 10 April 2008 On electronic interactive games, a legal framework for organizing and holding electronic interactive games in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

In particular, the Decree provides that legal persons are entitled to organize and hold electronic interactive games on the basis of a special permit (license), which may be issued in the order established by the President. It also introduced a tax on incomes from holding electronic interactive games at the rate of 8 percent and set out rules for its payment.

The Edict approve Regulations on the order of organizing and holding electronic interactive games in Belarus which contain legal requirements to be met by operators of such games.

The Decree and the Edict enter into force on 12th June 2008, in two-month period from their official publication.
