System of Professional Pension Insurance Created

The President of the Republic of Belarus signed the Law On Professional Pension Insurance which creates a system of obligatory state professional pension insurance of employees working under special conditions or engaged in certain kinds of professional activities. The Law defines categories of employees which are subject to professional pension insurance and provides that the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus determine lists of industries, works, professions, positions, indicators, institutions, and organizations which are covered by its provisions and take other necessary steps for the implementation of the Law.

The Law enters into force on 1 January 2009.
