New wording of the Rules on performing operations with electronic money adopted
The Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus has adopted, by its Decision of 16.02.2006 No. 52 which enters into force after the official publication, the new wording of the Rules on performing operations with electronic money which were approved by the Decision of the Board of 26.11.2003 No. 201.
The rules provide that electronic money may be issued in the Republic of Belarus only by Belarusian banks and nominated in Belarusian roubles. It is also stipulated that electronic money issued by non-residents and nominated in foreign currency may circulate in Belarus subject to some conditions.
The maximum amount of one operation with electronic money may not exceed 30 base units (one base unit 31 000 Belarusian roubles).
