   Legal news - 22.01.2006

   Import customs duties on some goods from European Union countries, Turkey,
Swiss Confederation and Principality of Lichtenstein have been prolonged
   Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 18 January 2007 No. 34
has extended till 1 January 2008 the period for which import customs duties were
imposed on some goods imported from European Union countries, Turkey, Swiss Confederation
and Principality of Lichtenstein. The duties were introduced by Edict of the
President of the Republic of Belarus of 25 May 2006 No. 354 from 6 June 2006
and cover certain goods from chapters 50 to 63 of the Commodity Nomenclature
for External Economic Activity of the Republic of Belarus.
   Two new Codes of the Republic of Belarus enter into force in March 2006
   According to the Law of the Republic of Belarus of 31 December No. 208-Z,
new Code of the Republic of Belarus and Code on Administrative Offences and Procedure
and Execution Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offences enter
into force from 1 March of 2007. The Code on Administrative Offences defines
administrative offences and establish penalties for their commission. Procedure
and Execution Code on Administrative Offences regulates procedure for consideration
of administrative cases and for imposing and executing penalties imposed on offenders.
