Now you can find our legal news and other legal information at http://law.by/ . ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal news - 03.03.2006 Special customs duty on imported chicken meat was established by the Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus February 28, 2006, No 127. This concerns fresh, cold and frozen chicken meat. For the next two years the customs due will be 45% from its original customs value, but not less than 0.45 EUR for a kilo. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus on February 21, 2006 No 3 all banks on the territory of the Republic of Belarus are transferred to the common conditions of paying the income tax. It also changes the order of using the preferences of the income taxation of insurance companies, received from their service. From now on such preference can only be obtained by the insurance company, which has more than 30% of the foreign investments on the date of January 1, 2005. This was made to provide equal rights for the companies with domestic investments and partly foreign investments. All the legal acts of the Republic of Belarus are now officially available through the internet. Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus on February 28, 2006, No 124 establishes that all the Belarusian legal acts must be published on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus (www.pravo.by) The Edict gives the official status to electronic version of the documents. Such acts will appear on the site simultaneously with its printed version. The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Macedonia signed an Agreement to prevent double taxation and evasion from the income tax and property tax. The Agreement came into force on January 26, 2006. The new Regulations for training abroad have been introduced by the Decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of February 16, 2006, No 216. Training abroad is possible only if Belarus and the foreign state have a correspondent probation agreement or by Belarusian international programs and projects. To obtain the permission of such training a specialist must present the invitation, details of the host organization (including scientific, pedagogical or creative mutual cooperation) and basis of probation. If the period of probation is more than 10 days, the permission of the supervising state body is necessary. Belarusian banks must attract 1 billion USD of foreign investments in 2006. This was approved by the Decision of the Council of Ministers of February 16, 2006, No 215 "On investment activity of the Republic of Belarus in 2006". The document determines the exact sum of credits of foreign investors for 19 Belarusian banks. The Republic of Belarus and Kingdom of Bahrain have signed the Agreement on air communication as an addition to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago, December 7, 1944).
