If the sun is on the banner

The book headlined If the sun is on the banner by a prominent journalist Said-Magomed Bashirov will be published in May. The book narrates the history of the republic of Ingushetia. The genre is not fiction but a detailed analysis of the republics development. Ingushetia, being almost in a conflict zone, managed not only to avoid decline but to achieve certain progress in social and economic development. The author provides living examples and argumentation to refute all allegations concerning the involvement of Ingushetia into the conflict. Said-Magomed Bashirov shows us that the republic is a blessed region, a full subject of the Russian Federation. Quite soon it may become an example for other regions. Today Ingushetia is the most economically and socially developed region of the Russian south. The region demonstrates high birth rates and low mortality.

Exhibitions and Fairs to Add to Boosting Small Business in Chechnya

Employees with Chechnyas Trade and Industry Chamber jointly with their colleagues from the Government Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship have frequently stressed that exhibitions and fairs may add significantly to boosting small business in Chechnya. That is why they take an active part in all relevant regional and all-Russian events and are also keen to hold a variety of fairs and exhibitions in the republic of Chechnya. Thus, an exhibition of Chechen manufacturers and services was recently held in the capital Grozny the third such an event that has been organized in the past three years. The infrastructure-friendly business incubator with the Government Committee became a venue for the exhibition, which had a great success. More than fifty entrepreneurs from around Chechnya took part in the exhibition to showcase their production, including construction materials, timber products and food-stuffs. This time, - says Zarema Chinkhoyeva, spokeswoman for Chechnyas Trade and Industry Chamber, - entrepreneurs showed more zeal to take part in the exhibition as compared with that of last years, realizing that they are bound to benefit from the event. They saw for themselves that taking part in similar events may well pave the way for exchange of expertise, product promotion and conclusion of a raft of agreements on joint business activities and would-be supplies. 01 April 2008  School Named after Magomed Daudov A school in the village of Geldagen in the Kurchaloisky region has been named after the Hero of Russia, Magomed Daudov. The current head of the Shalinsk regional branch of The Interior ministry was born in the village and studied at the school that now bears his name. According to director of the school, Sheikhmagomed Demilkhanov all the teachers and children of the school as well as all the villagers are proud of having the village school named after their famous compatriot. We have a friendly team and there is a teacher in every school subject. The children learn well and among them there are good sportsmen, especially chess players, declared Sh.Demilkhanov. But the school building itself leaves much to be desired. However, President Ramzan Kadyrov attended a ceremony of renaming of the village school after M. Daudov and promised that a new school boasting of all modern amenities and a large sport hall would be constructed in the shortest possible time. Construction work has already begun. Magomed Daudov was visibly moved by the presence of President Kadyrov, who personally announced the renaming of the village school after one of the youngest heroes of Russia, who is just 28 years old. 31 March 2008  Intl terrorist organisations back continued Caucasus hostilities
One of the reasons for continued combat actions of gunmen in the Caucasus is the support of international terrorist organisations, Federal Security Service Director Nikolai Patrushev told reporters here Friday about the combat actions of gangs in the North Caucasus. We managed to curb in earnest the activities of the gangs. We state that these activities are seriously scaled down, though they are continued so far. Yet we failed to achieve so that these activities would be fully terminated, Patrushev said. We have quite many reasons and conditions for this. This is the activity of international terrorist organisations, which act from the outside of our country, and mainly those possibilities they achieved in Russia in the meantime, and certainly those problems, which exist inside Russia, including socio-economic problems, Patrushev said. If we eliminate this cause I think there will be no activities (of gunmen), the FSB director said. In reply to a query about the recent incidents in Dagestan and Ingushetia, Patrushev said he does not think, We are confronting more intensive actions of gunmen. At present we speak about a serious reduction in the activity of gangs, though we do not say they stopped their activity, but we will seek for this, he said.

Chechen history

Chechens one the worlds most ancient people

Chechens (self-assumed name " nokhchi" ) are the world" s most ancient people with unique anthropological type and culture. They are the largest ethnic group in the North Caucasus (more than 1 million people). The neighbouring Ingush people are very similar in genotype, culture and religion. Together they form the Vainakh people related by blood, common history, territorial, economic and cultural links and language. Vainakhs (Chechens, Ingushes) are aborigines of the Caucasus and speak Nakh, a language that belongs to the Iberian-Caucasian language family. The Vainakh (Chechen) ethnic and cultural complex was formed on the basis of various aboriginal people. Historically the Chechen community was formed as multi-ethnic and it kept absorbing ethnic elements of nomadic people and neighbouring high-landers, the evidence of which being the non-Vainakh origin of many Chechen clans. The history of Chechnya can be described as a continuing struggle for freedom and independence against outside enemies, in which periods of prosperity alternated with defeats and new attempts to revive the statehood. In the early Middle Ages (4th-12th centuries) Chechens had to take up arms to defend themselves against invaders from Rome, Sasanid Iran, Arab Caliphate and Khazar Kaganate. The centuries-long struggle forged a military union of highlanders and laid the foundation for their statehood.
