Dikalu Muzakayev is a New Minister of Culture of Chechnya

President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has just signed a decree appointing Dikalu Muzakayev, an artistic director of the Vainakh dance ensemble, a new minister of Culture of Chechnya. The other Presidential decree relieves Movlu Asmayev of the position at the republican ministry of culture. Movlu Asmayev has been in the office since the year 2000. Vainakh was organized in 1939 as a Chechen-Ingush dance ensemble. It is no exaggeration to state that it has performed with great success practically all over the world. It is gratifying that at the beginning of the 21st century the ensemble continues its activity. Also, it has won a great number of international prizes as the unique folk ensemble. The world-renowned Chechen dancer Makhmud Esambayev began his career at the Vainakh ensemble. Dikalu Muzakayev was born in 1960 in Kazakhstan. He graduated from a choreography faculty of the Republican college of culture, became a dancer of the Vainakh ensemble and then was appointed its ballet-master.

New literature and artistic Painting devoted to works by Kharon Isaev

The Chechen governments archive department has published literature and artistic painting album, which is devoted to life and works of merited painter of the Chechen Republic, Kharon Isaev. According to the head of the department, Magomed Musaev who is the editor-in-chief of the publication, Isaev is one of the prominent painters of the elder generation in the republic who shared all difficulties faced Chechnya with its people. This is the first ever such album published in Chechnya. It includes articles and comments on the works of Kh. Isaev by intellectuals of Chechnya, painters, writers, poets and journalists. Among these 15 authors are the members of the journalists union of the Russian Federation Akhmed Tagirov, the former director of the Checheno-Ingushia state museum, Zarema Musaeva, the director of Chechnyas national museum Vakha Astalov, the merited scientist of the Russian Federation and Checheno-Ingushia Autonomous Soviet Republic, Academician Ibragim Aleroev. The album includes all works by the painter linked with the republic, landscapes, portraits, still life, water colour paintings and caricature. There are chapters, Scope of Russia, Local Colours of Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan Motives and Far and Near Jordan. (more...)

15 March 2007 Department of RDSTO in the Naur region reports on its work
The Russian Defense Sports and Technical Organization (RDSTO) is becoming more and more popular and developed in the Chechen republic. In Soviet times it was called the Voluntary Society of Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy. A local department of RDSTO in the Naur region is one of the best in Chechnya. The head of the organizations council, Mr. Taysumov has met with the deputy head of the department of the exterior of the Chechen government, L. Makhtamerzayev, to discuss the work of the RDSTO in the region. Reporting on the projects implemented by the organization in 2006, the head of the Naur council, Ismail Khabizayev, noted that the Council is paying special attention to the patriotic upbringing of the young, the training of future soldiers and specialists in the sphere of agriculture. Mr. Khabizayev emphasized that the Naur department of the RDSTO manages to work successfully due to active cooperation with all other regional departments. In each of 14 districts of the Naur region people can appeal to a representation of RDSTO and receive help and advice anytime.

14 March 2007  An aerial bomb has been found near the capital Grozny
An aerial bomb has been found on a residential plot of land near the capital Grozny, police in Russia's troubled North Caucasus republic said Wednesday. Measures are being taken to defuse it. Although the last war in Chechnya officially ended in 2001, periodic bombings and clashes between gunmen and police still disrupt the republic's relative calm, with the violence often spilling over into adjacent regions. Following the killing of Chechnya's number one terrorist, Shamil Basayev, Russian authorities announced a partial amnesty July 15 for militants who were not involved in major atrocities. Officials say more than 600 militants have surrendered since then, mainly in Chechnya. RIA Novosti

14 March 2007  Militant base discovered in Chechnya
An active militant base has been discovered in the Shatoi district in southern Chechnya, police in Russia's troubled North Caucasus republic said Wednesday. "Police officers found an active militant base while conducting a search operation in a wooded area three kilometers (1.8 miles) south of the village of Benoi," police said. Police said substantial supplies of food were found at the base, enough for 10 to 15 people. RIA Novosti
