26 February 2007 Two militants killed in Daghestan special operation
At least two members of an illegal militant group have been killed in a special police operation in the North Caucasus republic of Daghestan, a local FSB source said Saturday. According to earlier reports, three militants were surrounded in a house in Dagestan's Kizlyar district Saturday morning. "The special operation has been completed," said Nikolai Gryaznov, the head of the Daghestan branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB). "Two militants have been killed," he said, adding that the body of the third militant could be under the ruins of the house. Policed used armored vehicles to destroy the house because the militants were well-barricaded and responded to the police assault with heavy automatic fire. Gryaznov said the militants were presumably members of Takhir Badayev's group involved in up to 50 serious crimes committed in the Shelkovskoy district of Chechnya. An FSB officer has been wounded in the operation, the official said. RIA Novosti

26 February 2007  More Chechens are able to keep personal auxiliary farms on credit
Now more Chechens are able to keep personal auxiliary farms due to the credits which are granted by Rosselkhozbank. People may start keeping their farms on credit after their applications are approved by the local administration. The money should be spent on purpose. The deputy head of the administration in the Gudermess district, Mayrbeck Mikiyev, says 900 applications have already been studied by the middle of February. The administration had to refuse credits to 216 people who live in a town and cannot keep cattle. The total number of neat cattle keeping in personal auxiliary farms is 1230 heads which is 10 times more than in all state farms of the district. Of course, the conditions for keeping cattle in personal farms could be better but taking into account the economic situation in the whole region we should be pleased with what we have now- says Mikiyev. People are doing their best: buy feed and build spacious houses for cattle. They can sell their dairy and meat products in a few villages and in Gudermess. Certainly, our veterinary and sanitary inspectors strictly observe the process. It is not so difficult to get a credit from Rosselkhozbank,- says Mikiyev.- One should find a guarantor and receive a recommendation from the local administration. Luckily, there is practically no red tape in the region. Our people like to work and know how to work effectively for the benefit of Chechnya.
