Ethnic Russians in Chechen history

20th century Russia in the fledgling Chechen economy

As it came to the 20th century Chechnya was a backward territory on the outskirts of tsarist Russia. Its only industrial city Grozny was mainly populated by Russians. Grozny had a number of primitive oil refineries, small metal-working enterprises that served the oil industry and backyard-half turned enterprises of the food industry. Three Russian revolutions (1905-1917) brought closer the lives of Chechens, Ingushes and Russians. Poor mountaineers were attracted by the ideas of justice and freedom proclaimed by the Bolsheviks. Chechens and Ingushes demonstrated their active support for the revolutionary events. Reminiscent of class clashes on the territory of Chechnya was one of the biggest monuments in Grozny romantic revolutionaries: Russian Nikholai Gikalo, Ingush Gapur Akhriev and Chechen Aslanbek Sheripov. All suspects in an attack on Sverdlovsk policemen in Chechnya in September 2006 are arrested, deputy chief of the Sverdlovsk regional main police department Viktor Berdnikov told journalists on Monday. According to him, the last suspect was detained in Petersburg on December 30. He did not take part in the attack, but financed the bandit raid. Other five suspects, who are members of Karimovs gang, were detained 15 days after the attack. All six detainees (three were born in 1983, one in 1986, and another two in 1987) are Grozny residents, Berdnikov pointed out. The investigation is in progress. Speaking about the motives of the murder of policemen, Berdnikov noted, Today it is money earning. Those who are interested in hotbeds in Russia pay a certain sum to gunmen for each terrorist act. There would be no murder, if not for money, the senior police officer pointed out. Five policemen from the Sverdlovsk police garrison were killed in a shootout with gunmen in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny on September 21, 2006. 06 February 2007  The first contest is the first victory
The recent contest of journalist in Chechnya was the first professional one for Regina Dzhakayeva. The first contest and the first victory! Regina Dzhakayeva was the third in the TV nomination. She began her career in the Molodyozhnaya Smena newspaper, but nine months ago she became a TV journalist. She is in charge of a number of TV programs for the youth. Just recently she has introduced a new program This morning in Grozny, which is very popular with TV audience of all ages. Since Regina takes interest in economy she also hosts the program Big Money, in which she analyzes the current economic development of the republic and the most burning problems of the republican budget. Regina Dzhakayeva presented to the contest her program The Fourth Power, in which she considered the question whether mass media and journalism is really the fourth power in Chechnya and the role the republican journalists play in everyday life of the native land. According to Regina Dzhakayeva, the subject of the program is more than serious. That is why she invited Ruslan Yusupov and Timur Aliyev to take part in the program. The first one is the Chairman of the Union of Jounalists of Chechnya and the other participant is a staff-member of the Nezavisimaya Gazeta. The two men had a unique opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas of the subject in question while Regina herself was among the audience in the TV studio. She did not want to show and even press her opinion on the subject in question on those or her personal present; on the contrary, she wanted each person to express his thoughts. At the same time Regina is absolutely sure that the Chechen journalists become very important members of the nation. People take interest in their works, they do not ignore their opinions, and the authorities do not reject their ideas and projects. Of course, Regina is not a professional TV journalist yet, the more important her victory at the contest is. Certainly, she has been given some preferences and Regina Dzhakayeva is firmly determined to prove that she can become a leading TV journalist in Chechnya. The other obvious fact is that she will be participating in any other contest of journalists by all means to prove her professional skills.
