Beauty Will Save the World

Just recently the Chechen Center of Amateur and Folk Arts has held an exhibition and a festival under the motto Beauty will save the world. The Center of the Russian culture and folk arts from the Shelkovskaya village took part in the event. Dasho Maromedov, who heads the center, believes the motto of the major cultural event to be absolutely correct. From time immemorial various nations and nationalities have been living side by side in our republic. Their national heritage is both rich and priceless. In the last 15 years a great number of attempts to ruin it have been made. Now it is obvious that we should combine the revival of the republic after the military operations with the revival of the national cultures and traditions of all the ethnic groups inhabiting Chechnya -says Dasho Magomedov. - That was the main idea of the latest cultural event. The Center of the Russian culture and folk arts from the Shelkovskaya village exhibited various house-hold utensils and gave a gala-concert, which attracted thousands of visitors. At the same time they could not taste dishes of the Russian national cuisine because of the Lent Christian believers have been observing. By the way, at all the previously held events of the kind visitors did enjoy the most favorite Russian dishes such as potatoes either boiled or baked in their jackets, a herring and, of course, a Russian drink famous all over the world, Chechnya included. As for the exhibition mentioned above, it demonstrated earthenware crockery and examples of embroidery created by Russian women in the 19th century, etc. All the exhibits are private properties of the Russian women living in the Shelkovskay village. They were pleased and proud to demonstrate their family rarities. Dasho Magomedov could not but express his special gratitude to them. At the opening ceremony he addressed the Russian people: I ask you not to leave Chechnya, not to move to any other place to live and work. Also, I would like to invite all those who have earlier lived in the republic to come back. The Russian people are our friends from time immemorial. We have been treating each other with kindness and respect. Nowadays these norms of our relations do help us to revive the republic. The Center of the Russian culture and folk arts from the Shelkovskaya village is famous not only for its regular participation in various exhibitions. It is no less famous for its amateur choir and dance group. They are frequent visitors to their countrymen who are currently in their army services in Chechnya. Not so long ago they gave concerts in the military unit 67-76 and the local commandants headquarters. The head of the Center of the Russian culture and folk arts from the Shelkovskaya village says: We want our concerts to bring joy and happiness to the hearts of these soldiers and officers. We want them to know that beauty will save the world. (more...)

24 April 2006 The Chechen Branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation Has Got Money to Pay Debts
In March pensioners in the five regions of Chechnya did not get their pensions. When it became known, the local authorities decided that first and foremost pensions should be paid to people living in the mountain regions of the republic. The point is that life in any flat region is easier and more comfortable than in any mountain region. According to Nurid Aduev, deputy executive director of the Chechen Branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, by this time the Fund has already got the money in full to pay pensions without any further delay. According to one of the recent statements of the government of the Russian Federation, starting with April, the pensions will be higher. Recalculations have already been made. Also, the Chechen Branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation spares neither time nor efforts to help those pensioners, who lost all the necessary documents during the latest military operations in the republic and get minimal pensions. It is obvious that in the not too distant future the situation will be improved.

23 April 2006  Leningrad Region will Help School Children of Shali
Deputy governor of Leningrad region, Vladimir Kirillov has recently paid a visit to Chechnya and at a meeting with Chechen Prime minister, Ramzan Kadyrov, has discussed the broadening of cooperation between the two regions. He told R. Kadyrov that Leningrad region has decided to help build a school in Shali. Commenting on that decision head of Shalis education office, Haji Umarov said that the regional center required at least 3 schools: the first one in the place where the town has practically merged with the village of Germenchuk, the second school next to the local embankment and the 3rd one in the town center where a three shift schooling system is currently in practice. The decision by Leningrad regional administrators to help build one of the schools is therefore highly significant for the educational system in Shali. A new school building will help to end the current overcrowding in schools. In addition children will find it easier to reach school, especially the younger ones who presently have to travel a long distance along roads used by vehicles, including military ones. Construction of a new school building is a concrete good step toward realizing the cooperation agreement signed last year between Shali and Leningrad region, said Mr. Umarov. The Shali authorities were asked by Leningrad regional administrators to list all the most urgent problems of the region, promising to help in their solution. Now, our friends from Leningrad region are keeping their promise, said Kh. Umarov. Teachers and children in Shali welcomed the decision by Leningrad region, the more so that it was timed to the coming Day of the Chechen language as part of the Ahmat Kadyrov Foundations competition for the best class initiative. Preparations for the events are in full swing. The building of a new school in the regional center will also be a striking confirmation of the determination of Russian leaders to implement the national project on the upgrading of education in all the regions in Russia.

22 April 2006  Public Transport Tariffs in Grozny are under Strict Control
Lately, the republican authorities have been paying much more attention to make transport route in any part of the republic more comfortable. Grozny is no exception to the rule. In particular, new transport routes begin function. Whats more, they function 24 hours. At the same time, certain problems still exist. First and foremost, they are connected with the tariffs. The point is that certain drivers broke the law and imposed higher tariffs than the ones fixed by the local authorities. Last year the Control and Legal Department of the State Price Committee of the government of Chechnya got a great number of complains from the passengers. Investigations were held and drivers-abusers were asked to stop their illegal practice. Those refused to follow the recommendation had to pay penalty (2000 roubles). If a driver would like to continue his illegal practice, he will be fired by all means. As a result, the number of violations has lowered. According to Salman Edilkhanov, head of the Control and Legal Department of the State Price Committee of the government of Chechnya, it is necessary to do everything possible to stop any violations in the sphere of the public transport in Grozny to improve the image of Grozny.
