In the Sovietskaya Rossiya State Farm Wages Will Be Given In Cash

The Sovietskaya Rossiya State Farm has been listed as good not only in the Grozny agricultural district but also all over Chechnya. Last year the Sovietskaya Rossiya personnel was awarded a Volga car and its director, Zamzan Nagermanov, was given the title of Honoured Machine Operator of Russia. On the results of last years gross harvest the Sovietskaya Rossiya State Farm ranks first in Chechnya. Ours will be the leading state farm this year too! the director says with certainty. This years winter and spring crops are not inferior to last years crops. In early June there were 1,500 hectares of sown area, including 1,300 hectares of food grains, 100 hectares of sugar-beet and another 100hectares that are sown with maize and vegetables the Sovietskaya Rossiya State Farm has re-started growing this year. Zamzan Nagermanov believes that the Sovietskaya Rossiya personnel can be praised for its former achievements. It is a good and united team of high-class specialists, the director says. All of them have a lengthy record of service and are experienced workers, and besides, they are great enthusiasts of agricultural work. And it is not accidental that the Sovietskaya Rossiya farmers adopted cross-over sowing as long ago as the late 90s of last century: doubled expenditures lead to desired results. And this year a crossover method was used to sow winter crops. An attempt to use a similar method to sow spring crops ended in a failure: the weather was bad, the soil was not easy to plough and the deadline was close. And though an ordinary method was used to sow winter crops, the expected results will be much better than last years results, as the Sovietskaya Rossiya farmers believe. They are always eager to share their experience in the application of advanced methods with other farmers in all parts of Chechnya. The Yubileiny and the Gikalo state farms of the Grozny agricultural district and also some farms of the Shalinsky District in Chechnya have already adopted the Sovietskaya Rossiya experience. The Sovietskaya Rossiya director has absolute certainty that his team is on the right way. The crossover method has improved considerably the material conditions of the local farmers. There are plans this year to pay wages to the state farm workers in cash, not by the goods they produce. This has become possible thanks to the realization of good harvest of grain and vegetables. This decision encouraged their doing shock work in future as well.

All about Chechnya, chechens. Chechen Republic | news| history| traditions| music

This pamphlet is about Chechnya, a Russian territory which has witnessed the most tragic events over the past decade. The book is the latest update on the Chechen Republic . And this is very important, since a lack of fresh and accurate information about events in Chechnya generates many distorted conceptions and rumours - both within and outside Russia . For example, that Chechen society is allegedly inherently alien to Russia , that pro-Russian elements in the republic are marginalised; and lastly, that Russian power structures are fighting the Chechen people, rather than armed bandit groups. The reality, however, is that only with the return of the legitimate authorities are villages and towns being restored, children going to school for the first time in many years, and pensioners receiving long-forgotten pensions, i.e. a social rebirth is underway. Lying ahead are a referendum on a new Chechen constitution, and parliamentary and presidential elections. These votes will be held, despite continued attempts by bandit groups and their leaders to scupper the process of normalisation in the republic, the latest terrorist act being the bombing of the republican government building. The war being waged by Chechen separatists against federal forces and more often than not against their own co-citizens is by no means a "national liberation struggle of the Chechen people", but an episode in the overall offensive by international terrorism on the fundamental principles of modern civilisation. The facts show that being a part of the Russian Federation in no way threatens the Chechen Republic 's cultural identity, the free use of its own language, and preaching Islam. On the contrary, it was during de facto "independence" from Russia that the Chechen people suffered a humanitarian tragedy on an unprecedented scale. Hostage-taking, the slave trade and plundering came to form the economic basis of the new regime, while chaos and war became the form of its political existence. We want to emphasise once more: Chechnya is part of Russia , geographically, politically and civilisation-wise. So a hypothetical triumph of radical Islamism on its territory would be anti-historical. Such a development would signify the establishment in the midst of Europe of a Taliban-like regime, with all ensuing consequences for the international community. The corporate author - journalists of the Russian Information Agency Novosti - have attempted to be as brief as possible on providing answers to the most-often aked questions (above all posed by a foreign audience) about the Chechen issue. Hence the book's title: " Chechnya : Questions and Answers". It draws heavily on information provided by various Russian ministries and departments that in one or another way are involved in normalising life in the republic.

21 June 2005  Viticulture Is Being Restored in Nadterechny Region
Ruslan Chilayev Chairman of the Chechen Governments Committee on viticulture and wine-makingreported recently that it will take no less than 25 years to raise vineyards to the levels of the year 1990. And this work has already begun. Wine-making farms in Nadterechny region has already brought vine shoots up to 100,000 for each farm from the neighboring Stavropol region. They are frost-resistant, do not need cover in cold weather and are immune to malaise and pests. As reported by Mauvli Akhmatov, chief of Nadterechny regional agricultural department, in addition to the existing 181 hectares of vineyards, 129 hectares more were planted this spring. If there is additional financing, a sizable new planting is planned in order to increase the vineyards area up to 600 hectares. Viticulture is not a new branch of farming to Nadterechny region. In Soviet times it yielded high incomes and provided employment to thousands of workers. Unfortunately, the 90s saw decline of this branch. The decision by republican and regional authorities to restore viticulture met with unanimous approval in the region. Implementation of this task is not easy. Vines begin to yield fruit only in their fifth year. The first 4 years require painstaking care, without any return. And first of all sufficient irrigation is required. And this is precisely what Nadterechny region is lacking. All interregional irrigation networks have been completely destroyed. But their restoration has been put into the program of social and economic development in the Republic. And it is precisely with a view to their restoration that planting of new vineyards in Nadterechny region is envisaged. People in this region are aware that it would be next to impossible to sell off so much grapes which would grow in a few years. Therefore, the locals are counting on the wine-making factory that already exists here. Up to 80 percent of the grape harvest will go into processing to produce various brands of wines. Thus if nothing hampers this effort in a few years, residents in all regions of Russia will enjoy wine produced from grapes grown in Nadterechny region.

June is the most serious month for the school children of 9th and 11th forms in Russia since they sit for examinations ahead of the independent working life. In the Nadterechny district of Chechnya 485 pupils leave school this year. Eight out of them claim for gold medals and 14 for silver medals. And 38 out of 876 pupils who completed the 9th form will get first class certificates. The deputy head of the districts education department, Abbas Akhmetkhanov is satisfied with the performance of the academic year. Interest in studying has grown and pupils try hard to improve their knowledge. The material base of schools has significantly improved too. Schools are equipped with advanced means of teaching and teachers have got methodical literature and the pupils textbooks. Among the best schools in the district are 1st, 2nd and 3rd secondary schools in Znamenka, Gavardeiskaya school, 2nd school in Naur and 1st, 2nd and 3rd secondary schools in Nadterechny. A teacher from Znamenka, Guchigova won this years republican competition of the Best Teacher of the Year and a pupil Luiza Saidulaeva from the 1st secondary school in Znamenka won the republican Olympiad in Russian language. Many pupils who leave school this year wish to continue education in secondary special colleges and higher educational establishments. To this end there is no need for them to travel away from home. The continuation of education is not linked with problems in income or accommodation. One can get a specialty without leaving the district. During the last bell ceremony the young people were informed where they can continue education. For one, the branch of Moscow academy of law and management functions at the 3rd secondary school in Znamenka and the branches of Moscow contemporary humanitarian academy has been opened at the 1st school in Nadterechny and Gvardeisky School. The branch of Grozny teachers training college is ready to admit youth from the 3rd Nadterechny school, the branch of the Krasnodar civil engineering technical college from the 1st school in Znamenka and the branch of the Grozny economic and statistic college from the 2nd school in Znamenka. All about Chechnya, chechens. Chechen Republic | news| history| traditions| music
"The Chechens, like the rest of the highlanders, avoid extremes in their eating and drinking habits. What they usually eat is chureks or corn bread with mutton lard spread on it, and wheat stew with lard in it; water is their basic refreshment." "...Unleavend wheat or barley bread baked on charcoal, milk and cheese constitute their daily menu; meat is eaten, very rarely, by the richest of the Chechens." That was written about the Chechen eating habits in the 19th century. And it was not until the late 19th century that many vegetables grown in Europe - tomatoes, cabbage, radish - had found their way to the kitchen gardens of mountainous Chechnya. Chechen farming units have, since times immemorial, been self-sufficient, with only spices and sweetmeats being bought at the market. And, although they have become familiar with the cuisines of many other ethnic communities, the Chechen women cherish the very special culinary traditions of their own.
