ANDREI KIM'S CRIMINAL CASE TAKEN TO COURT

A criminal case against political prisoner Andrei Kim will be taken to the court today. The activist of the organisation "Initiative" was detained during disperse of action of entrepreneurs on 21 January. He got 10 days of arrest for participation in the unauthorised event, and later he was guarded to the pretrial detention center and accused of violent acts against militiamen.

Campaign of the Young Front "Belarus to Europe" is a three-month street marathon, started on 14 February on St Valentine's Day, and goes through all towns of the country from the east to the west. After an action or a series of actions, a mass youth opinion polls is organised in each town. The theme of the polls is where the youth would like to live in Russia or in Europe. The campaign is organised all over Belarus, it will last the second half of February, March, and April and finish on 14 May with national
action of flying of national white-red-white and European flags. On that day the referendum on changing national symbols was held in 1995.

BPF ASKS TO GIVE SITE FOR HOLDING NATIONAL DICTATION TIMED TO FREEDOM DAY

Minsk city organisation Belarusian Popular Front Renaissance (BPF) sent requests to administrations of the National, Kupala and Pushkin Libraries, and to administrations of the Belarusian State University and Belarusian State Pedagogical University asking to allow them to lend a room for holding the national dictation, which is to be on 23 March.

A leader of the movement of individual entrepreneurs, a former police major Syarhei Parsyukevich is arrested. This decision has been taken today by the prosecutor of Maskouski district of Minsk. Syarhei Parsyukevich was called to testify in the case brought up against him.
