In Brussels Alyaksandr Milinkevich met a new chair of the European parliament Hans-Gerd Poettering. In the conversation with the leader of the united democratic forces of Belarus, the president of the European parliament noted that the European Parliament is a supporter of all citizens of Belarus, who are fighting for human rights, freedom and democracy in their country.

UNION OF POLES LEADER STAYS AT LARGE

Today a session of the court took place in the court of Kastrychnitski district of Hrodna. Hearings of the case of Mieczyslaw Jaskiewicz, one of the leaders of the Union of Poles in Belarus, have taken place there. The court has found Jaskiewicz guilty of beating a man at a trolleybus stop three months ago. He was fined 1 million 240 thousand rubles. Besides, Mr Jaskiewicz is to pay 500,000 rubles of moral damages, Radio Svaboda informs.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TO IMPOSE ORDER IN ENERGY SPHERE

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has set a task to the prosecutor's office of the country to impose order in the sphere of fuel and energy. "President has demanded the prosecutor general to take a comprehensive set of actions to compensate the damages to the state. He also has demanded prosecutors to be more active in imposing order in the energy sphere," the press-service of the president told to Interfax summing up the results of the report by Prosecutor General Pyotr Miklashevich on Friday.

JONATHAN MOORE: USA TO COOPERATE WITH THE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT

"The Belarusian opposition incorporates all the democratic forces; it is a broad coalition with different inside opinions. That is why it is quite natural that there are different opinions on certain issues", deputy ambassador of the USA to Belarus Jonathan Moore declared in his interview with BelaPAN. According to the diplomat, there is always a multiplicity of opinions inside democratic movements. In particular, there is no common opinion on the closest allies of Belarus and on the economic model of the country.
And the decision for the democratic forces is to be taken by the Belarusian people. Neither the USA nor the European union can insist on the scenario suitable for the republic", Jonathan Moore stressed. He mentioned that the USA is going to cooperate with the democratic government elected by the Belarusian people.

GERMAN AMBASSADOR ALLOWED TO MEET WITH ALYAKSANDR KAZULIN

The wife of the former candidate for presidency Iryna Kazulina informed about that on February 8 at a morning session of the European Parliament. She expressed thanks to the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden for his recent visit to Belarus. She believes that the results of the visit had a positive influence. "The permission of the Belarusian authorities for German Ambassador to meet with Alyaksandr Kazulin is quite a result, though a little one," Iryna Kazulina
said.

EUROPE IS EXPECTING DEMOCRATIC CHANGES FROM BELARUSIAN AUTHORITIES

If Belarus demonstrates readiness for cooperation with the European Union, the dialogue with the country will have to be conducted comprehensively and under strict conditions. This was declared by president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Poettering when opening the European Parliament hearing of the Belarus issue in Brussels 8 February. On behalf of the deputies president of the European Parliament appealed to Alyksandr Lukashenka for "opening gates of prisons and immediate releasing of all the political
prisoners".
