Child Porn Dealers Continue Ddos-attacks On Our Site

For the third day external attempts to hamper the work of the web-site www.charter97.org
continue. On Tuesay 20 at 9 a.m. Minsk time unknown hackers started a Ddos-attack
on our site. The reason for that was the article "Belarusian Origin of Child
Porn Mongers" placed on the site (see below). In this journalist investigation
names and firms of some Belarusian mongers of dirty business are revealed. The
attack followed proved veracity of the investigation. By the way, the material
about these people was published in the authoritative "Belorusskaya Delovaya
Gazeta".

Former Belarusan Leader Searched At Border

Recently Stanislaw Shushkevich, former chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the
12th calling went to Warsaw as a member of delegation of the People's Coalition
Five+ for a number of meetings with Polish politicians and journalists. At the
customs office of the railway station in Brest Shushkevich and Alyaksandar Bukhvostaw
were searched.

Independent Newspapers Forced to Publish Official Information

The state continues to lobby official sources of information, recommending independent
newspapers to refer to reports of state-run information agencies. As Radio Svaboda
informs, a number of independent mass media have already been visited by representatives
of the Ministry of Information, who recommended using news of state information
agency BELTA on the pages of independent newspaper.

Print run of Magazine 'Assambleya' Arrested

On January 21 the news arrived that printrun of the magazine "Assambleya" was
withdrawn from Minsk Post. It is the first case of mass arrest of private correspondence
on political grounds in the newest history of Belarus: several hundreds of letters
with 'illicit' information were not received by addressees. As said by postal
service employees, the Prosecutor's office is participating in that, www.belngo.info
informs.

Higher Education Institutes to Teach Ideology Since February

In February institutes of higher education are to start to give a course of lectures
"Ideology of Belarusian State". The Ministry of Education gave a chance to educational
institutions to choose whether to start the course in the beginning of teaching
or after all courses of humanities.
