THE FIRST MUSICAL CHANNEL TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST CHARTER97 PRESS-CENTER

Leadership of the First musical channel, which broadcasts in Belarus at the frequency
of the closed Russian channel TV-6, is determined to sue the press center of
the civil initiative Charter97 for issuing information that damages their
honour, dignity and business reputation. It was said by program director of the
First Musical Channel Vitaly Chyzhou at the press conference on January 30, BelaPAN
informs.

BHC CLAIMS COURT RULING ON SALIHORSK MINERS UNLAWFUL

Minsk regional court (chairman Genadz Komel) pronounced that the resolution of
the city meeting on January 11 in Salihorsk was unlawful. Under the resolution
a preventive strike on February 1 at manufacturing complex Belaruskalij was to
be held. The court found it necessary to implement its ruling immediately.

SECOND BELARUSIAN CHANNEL INSTEAD OF NTV?

This year in May a second national TV channel is to start broadcasting. In contrast
with the first, state channel, the state will own 51% of shares of the second
channel. Other shares are to be bought by shareholders. At the moment there is
only TV channel that can be seen all over the country. That is why the West talks
about monopolization of electronic mass media by the authorities.
