2007-09-06 11:06:00 Delegation headed by Chief of RA Police is in Baku
ArmInfo. The delegation, headed by Chief of RA Police, Colonel-General Haik Harutyunyan , is in Baku, the press-service of RA Police told ArmInfo.
According to the source, the delegation left for Tbilisi from Yerevan yesterday evening . Then, H. Harutyunyan left for Baku together with Head of Georgia's MIA Vano Merabishvili. The Armenian delegation also includes deputy Head of RA Police, Mayor-General Armen Yeritsyan, Chief of the Police Headquarters Eduard Kazaryan, representative of the Chief Administration on fight with organized crime Ruben Dovlatyan.
To recall, head of RA Police left for Baku to take part in the meeting of CIS countries' foreign ministers to be held September 6-7. The meeting participants will discuss the state of work of law enforcement agencies/police of CIS participant-states in the area of fight with illegal migration and will determine the specific steps for enhancement of efficiency of interdepartmental interaction in this sphere.

2007-09-03 09:48:00 Eastern Davos opens doors to thousands of guests
ArmInfo. The western editions called the annual Economic Forum in the Polish city of Krynica an Eastern Davos . The seventeenth Forum will open its doors this Wednesday, September 5, to the thousands of guests from 60 countries of the Central and Eastern Europe and from other continents. Many international reviewers think that Krynica has become an important place on the political map and, perhaps, the only place where the East meets the West in a numerous membership.
The Forum's subject this year sounds more than topically: Europe - Crisis, Changes or Chances? The leading politicians, representatives of governmental and parliamentary delegations, economic and non-
governmental organizations, experts, Heads of Institutes, businessmen, Mass Media representatives will discuss just this subject. The Forum's programme envisages about 130 discussions joined in 10 thematic blocks: international policy and security, the state and reforms, EU and its neighbours, regions, society, science and culture, macroeconomics, business and management, fuel and energy, new economy.
During a special presentation, the Forum participants will get acquainted with the next sixth issue of the report "New Europe. Report on Transformation", prepared by specialists of the meeting's organizer, the Institute of Eastern Researches. The Report is purposed to assess the successes in transformation and economic integration achieved in 2006 and the first half, 2007. The analysis covers 27 countries of the Central, Eastern Europe and the former USSR republics. The common thing for these counties is the
fact that they started the process of reformation, aimed at
construction of a democratic state and a competitive market economy under conditions of integration with the world economy, in 1989-1991.
During a solemn session, awards of the Economic Forum will be presented to the men of outstanding personality, the companies and Institutes in the following categories: A Man of the Central and Eastern Europe, A Company of the Central and Eastern Europe. Armenia's delegation, including RA Parliament representative, well-known economists, political experts and journalists have been also invited to the Forum.

ArmInfo Today, the maximum buying rates at commercial banks of Yerevan were 336 drams for 1 dollar, 457 drams for 1 EUR and 12,93 drams for 1 Russian ruble. The minimum selling rates stood at 338 drams for 1 dollar, 461 drams for 1 EUR and 13,15 drams for 1 Russian ruble.

2007-09-06 12:11:00 Another 35 cases of swine fever in Yerevan
ArmInfo. Another 35 cases of swine fever were registered in Yerevan, Rescue Service of Armenia (RSA) told ArmInfo. The pigs belonged to K. Zakaryan's farm in Terlemezyan Street, Yerevan. Earlier, 15 pigs infected with African fever were liquidated on this farm. There were a total of 50 pigs on Zakaryan's farm. Specialists say the animals were infected through fodder. A total of 7 focuses of swine fever have already been registered in Armenia. Over 1,700 animals were liquidated.

ArmInfo. About one thousand citizens of Russia and another 500 citizens of other CIS member-states draw pensions in Armenia, Chairman of the State Social Insurance Fund of Armenia

Under interstate treaties, Armenia pays pensions to the citizens of foreign states in conformity with the government standard. Thus, average pension in Armenia totaled about 11,000 drams in 2006 and 13.5 thousand drams in 2007. Pension size in Armenia depends on the state-established basic pension plus a definite amount of sum per labor-year and the service length percentage.
To recall, a new order of drawing work pensions has come into effect for the citizens of Armenia residing in Russia this year. The new order regulates the rights of Armenian citizens working in Russia to drawing pensions from the local pension fund in conformity with the legislation of Russia.

2007-09-06 10:35:00 Great Luciano Pavarotti died
ArmInfo. The famous Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti died today morning at Modena hospital. Worsening of his condition was noted Wednesday evening and the doctors could not save him.
As the foreign Mass Media report, the day before, the Italian vice Prime Minister, Minister of Culture Francesco Rotelli announced of awarding Pavarotti with special prize for excellence in cultural
achievement.
In July 2006, Pavarotti underwent surgery in New York for pancreatic cancer and retreated to his villa in Modena. The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life.
Luciano Pavarotti was born on October 12, 1935, in the Italian city Modena. The love for music was inculcated to the future singer by his father, who often brought him the records of the great singers.
Even at school, he was attending the choir. Then, in 1961, Pavarotti won the prestigious Concorso Internazionale and made his operatic debut at the Reggio Emilia Theater as Rodolfo in Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme. In 1996, he became a soloist of "La Scala". Later, he left the opera stage and appeared only at concerts. As RIA "Novosti" reports, the masetro made his farewell tour over 40 cities of the world being 70 years old.
