OSCE FACT-FINDING MISSION TO SEVEN REGIONS UNDER CONTROL OF NKR DEFENSE ARMY OVER

STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. OSCE mission on ascertaining the facts of settlement of the 7 regions under control of NKR Defense Army has completed its work.

According to ARMINfo's special correspondent to Stepanakert, the experts of the group examined the above territories and interrogated the residents to ascertain how much assertions of Azerbaijan about mass settlement of these territories by Armenian people are proved.

On February 6, OSCE monitoring group met the residents of Stepanakert and Shushi deported from Azerbaijan. To remind, Emili Margaret Haber, Director of the OSCE German Department, heads the expert group. The group consists of experts of Finland, Italy, Sweden and Germany.

OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs were also in the region. Steven Mann returned to Washington on the third day of the monitoring.

Emili Margaret Haber said the monitoring was of technical nature. OSCE Misnk Group will make the political assessment of the situation on the basis of the report of the group. In his turn, NKR Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan expressed hope that the mission would be satisfied with the result of its work. He said that the contribution to the mission made by the local authorities "is a display of good will with respect to the peaceful efforts of the international community". The minister called the level of cooperation of the NKR authorities and the monitoring group satisfactory and allowing a solution to all the issues. A report for the OSCE Minsk Group will be prepared as a result of monitoring within 1-2 months.

ZURAB ZHVANIA'S FUNERAL FINISHED IN GEORGIA

TBILISI. Georgia's Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania's funeral came to an end in Georgia.

He was buried in the Didube Pantheon of Eminent Public Persons of Georgia. The Pantheon was created in XIX century; It is the home for famous persons working in science, culture, writers and public persons. All in all there were 100 graves in the Didube Pantheon. Grave of Zurab Zhvania is the 101th in Didube Pantheon.

The Ceremony was accompanied by artillery that fired volleys. Family members of the premier, Georgia's president Mikheil Saakashvili, vice premier Giorgi Baramidze, state minister Giorgi Khaindrava and Zurab Zhvania's relatives were at the burial ceremony.

At about 15:30 the coffin was taken to Rustaveli Avenue at the parliament building of Georgia. Those present paid a minute of silence in honor of the prime minister. After this the orchestra played the national anthem.

The servicemen of 11 brigade of Shavnabada battalion took the coffin from the Rustaveli Avenue to the cathedral of Sameba.

Thousands of people gathered at the building of parliament. Ceremony was attended by the president of Georgia, spokesperson of parliament Nino Burjanadze, members of the government, MP, public persons, representatives of international organizations, ordinary citizens.

After the ceremony at the parliament representatives of the government and foreign delegations brought flowers to the place where the coffin with Zurab Zhvania's body was rested.

Over 50 delegations including heads of diverse international organizations from different countries arrived for the funeral, including delegations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, France, Finland, Czechia. To note an Armenian delegation headed by Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Tigran Torosyan also attended the ceremony. The delegation consisted of Minister for Transport and Communication Andranik Manukyan, Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakharyan, other officials, as well as the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan and the former speaker of the Parliament Babken Ararktsyan.

Georgian government received dozens of condolences from different parts of the world in connection with the death of Zurab Zhvania. Among them are heads of international organizations, well-known public persons. One of the first persons to express his condolences was president of Ukraine Victor Yushenko; President of Russia Vladimer Putin sent a telegraph; condolences were also received from the president of Turkey Taip Rejeb Erdogan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev, European Commission, European Union and other organizations; Georgia's president received a personal call from the State Secretary of the US Condoliza Rice.

Despite cold whether - it's been snowing in Tbilisi for a few days already - the funeral ceremony was attended by thousands of people from all the corners of Georgia.

CONSTRUCTION OF HALL FOR CANDLE LIGHTING AT CATHEDRAL OF ST. GRIGOR LUSAVORICH IN YEREVAN COMPLETED

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. Construction of a hall for candle lighting at Cathedral of Saint Grigor Lusavcorich (St.Gregory the Enlightener) is completed in Yerevan.

The press-service of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin informs ARMINFO that the consecration ceremony of the new hall is fixed for February 7 at 16:00. Head of the Chancellery of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will hold the ceremony.

LAW-ENFORCEMENT BODIES OF ARMENIA IDENTIFIED SUSPECTS IN BLOODY QUARREL IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. The law-enforcement bodies of Armenia have identified the persons of the suspects in bloody quarrel in Yerevan last Friday. The press service of the Armenian Police informs ARMINFO that measures for search and detention of these persons are taken. They are not named within the interests of the investigation.

As it was reported earlier, Friday, approximately at 20:45 the Medical Center Erebuni informed that three young men had been taken there wounded by firearms. An operative group arrived in the place and determined that Armen Khachatryan (1970), Tigran Nazaryan (1975) and Mher Ter-Haroutiunyan (1974, who died in hospital) were wounded the same day during a fire, which took place at 20:30 in the crossroad of Artsakh and Arin-Berd streets. A submachine gun AK-74 was found in the salon of the BMW, which had brought them to hospital. Shells of 7.62 and 5.45 calibers were found in the place of the event. A joint operative and investigation group has been formed from the employees of the Police and the Prosecutor's Office. The circumstances are ascertained. Yerevan City Prosecutor's Office is engaged in the investigation.

Witnesses say that representatives of two groupings participated in the quarrel. Many cars, including a Mercedes-124 with state number plate 07 OS 019 and two VAZ automobiles with number plates 77 ll 015 and 55 SU 011, were noticed in the place of the slaughter. According to unconfirmed information, the first one bears relation to one of the Armenian MPs.

ARMENIAN ARCHIVES ARE OPEN FOR ALL INVESTIGATORS: ARSEN AVAGIAN

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. Armenian archives are open for all the investigators. According to the Turkish daily Hurriyet, Resident Representative of Armenia to Turkey on Organization of Black Sea Economic cooperation, Doctor of historical sciences Arsen Avagian stated in response to the statement of Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Erdogan, according to him "Armenian do not open their archives".

According to him, Arsen Avagian informed that three archives are functioning in Yerevan - Central Historical Archive, Archive of new history and Archive of political parties. "The documents concerning 1915 are kept in the Central historical Archive and the Archive of political parties. These archives are open for the investigators all over the world, including for Turkish investigators. However, no Turkish investigator has appealed to there yet to work", Arsen Avagian said, adding that he will provide any assistance to anybody who appeals to him with a request to help to gain an access to the archives.

UK GOVERNMENT DE FACTO ACKNOWLEDGES ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. For the first time the UK government has de facto acknowledged the Armenian Genocide.

Meanwhile UK Ambassador to Armenia Thorda Abbot-Watt told ARMINFO that she knows that in Armenia there are many archive records of the events of 1915-1917. She said that the UK has not changed its position on the issue. She preferred not to touch on this delicate and painful subject for the Armenian nation.

PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA-LADA COMPANY KILLED IN TOLTYATTI

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. The well-known Armenian businessmen, the president of the Armenia-Lada company Rafael Shahmuradyan has was killed in Tolyatti, Russia, last night.

To remind, a life attempt was made against Shahmuradyan May 25 2004. Then Shahmuradyan's Nissan Patrol was fired at from a white Niva. Shahmuradyan was seriously wounded in the back and hospitalized. The assaulters escaped.

Shahmuradyan's company is engaged in importing and selling passenger cars.

AZERIS REPORTED TO LIVE IN HOUSES LEFT BY ARMENIANS IN BAKU

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7. ARMINFO. The houses left by Armenians in Baku are inhabited by Azeris who are all but refugees, Russian co-chair of OSCE Minsk group Yuri Merzlyakov says in an interview to Armenia's Public TV Company.

He says that he saw that when visiting Neftianiks Street in Baku.

Merzlyakov says that the OSCE fact-finding visit was arranged by mutual consent and that the Nagorno Karabakh authorities ensured all the necessary conditions for the experts' work. The Russian and French co-chairs apologized to Armenian refugees that they have met them for the first time in so many years.
