PACE RESOLUTION ON NAGORNY KARABAKH CANNOT HAVE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES ON KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT, BUT IT COULD HAVE POLITICAL INFLUENCE ON IT

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26. ARMINFO. PACE resolution on Nagorny Karabakh cannot have any legal consequences on the process of settlement of Karabakh conflict, however, it could have political influence on it as it shows the official position of PACE. Mher Shahgeldyan, Head of the Parliamentary Commission for Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, Vice Chairman of "Orinats Yerkir" party told ARMINFO commenting on PACE resolution on Nagorny Karabakh adopted the day before.

He noted that there are numerous provisions in the document undesirable for the Armenian party. At the same time, the statements proceeded from its interests are also included there. According to him, a provision verifying that "the territory can get independence if its population reaches it on the basis of democratic processes" is among them. The people of Nagorny Karabakh got its independence just in a democratic way, he noted. "Besides, it is said in the document that no decision can be imposed on the people of Nagorny Karabakh, which is also within the interests of Armenian side, M. Shahgeldyan added.

BOARD OF BLOC OF NATIONAL DEMOCRATS PARTY CENSURES ACTIONS OF ITS ACTIVIST

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26. ARMINFO. The Board of the Bloc of National Democrats party led by MP Arshak Sadoyan met today to censure the actions of its activist Vardan Grigoryan who called a special meeting Tuesday to discuss Sadoyan's statements which in his opinion had discredited the Justice bloc and his party.

The Board said that it was puzzled by Grigoryan's actions especially as he failed to explain when and where Sadoyan said words discrediting the Justice bloc but refused to take his words back and left the meeting.

Grigoryan refused to comment on the incident to ARMINFO too saying only that he left the meeting "because of insurmountable disagreement with some of the Board members."

THREE QUAKES CAUSE CASUALTIES IN TURKEY

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26. ARMINFO. Three earthquakes caused human casualties and destructions in Turkey Tuesday.

The National Service of Seismic Protection of the Emergency Department of Armenia reports that the quakes took place 15 km north-west of Akkari 7:24, 8:35 and 8:44 PM their magnitude being 4.6, 4.4 and 5.5 points in the town and 6, 6 and 8 points (12-point MSC-64 scale) in the epicenter respectively. 2 people were killed, 22 wounded

ARMENIA's AUTHORITIES DO NOT REACT TO REQUEST OF MOLOKANS COMMUNITY OF YEREVAN

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26. ARMINFO. The authorities of Armenia do not give a positive answer to the request of members of Molokans community of Yerevan to allot them a 1-1,5 ha of land for construction of a village of Sloboda, Head of the Fund of Assistance to Russian Compatriots Ivan Semyonov told ARMINFO.

He said that the members of Molokans community made a request to Armenia's President Robert Kocharyan and to Mayor of Yerevan Yervand Zakharyan. They received an answer only from the Yerevan municipality. "Molokans were proposed to watch announcements in Armenian newspapers on auctions for sale of land and to participate in them", informed I. Semyonov, adding that Molokans have no funds to buy the land.

Molokans also addressed to the Speaker of Armenia's National Assembly Artur Baghdasaryan.

To note, in the beginning of 1990s' about 51,000 Russians were living in Armenia, half of them of Molokanian religion. Only 5,000 Molokans are living in Armenia nowadays, of them 2,000 in Yerevan.
