The director of the Center for Civil Initiatives NGO Albert Voskanyan calls "sheer nonsense" the article "Where Are Our POWs Vanishing?" in Zerkalo newspaper (Baku). The article questions the impartiality of NGO's monitoring of Karabakh's jails by claiming that Azeri POWs are still being held there. Voskanyan says that the center monitors jails in Karabakh only and not in Armenia as claims the article. The NGO pays especial attention to the moral and physical state of prisoners and sanitary conditions in cells. Its reports are sent to over 100 international and human rights organizations including OSCE, CE, UNHCR. The NGO follows no political goals. In all its reports the NGO states that all of the prisoners in Karabakh are Armenians and should there be other nationalities it would report on that without fail. "No allegations can prevent us from carrying out our humanitarian mission to inform the international community of the real situation in Karabakh's jails," says Voskanyan.
