MOTORCAR ACCIDENT NEAR BUILDING OF ARMENIA'S DEFENCE MINISTRY

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12. ARMINFO. Two citizens of Armenia died as a result of the Tuesday motorcar accident near the building of the Defence Ministry of Armenia, and two officers of the Defence Ministry are in the hospital with permanent injuries. ARMINFO was informed in the Department of information and propaganda of the Ministry of Defence.

MILITARY COOPERATION OF ISRAEL AND USA WITH TURKEY MAKE THEM CO-PARTICIPANTS IN CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12. ARMINFO. It is tragic that part of the understanding between Israel and Turkey was that Israel would continue to deny the Armenian Genocide and would not comment on Turkey's human rights violations against Turkey's 20% Kurdish minority. Furthermore, Israel's military cooperation with Turkey makes Israel an accessory to Turkey's ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity and genocide against its 15- 20 million Kurdish minority. It should also be noted that the U.S. military and economic assistance to Turkey these past decades has made the U.S. the prime accessory to Turkey-s massive human rights violations against the Kurds. Israel-s failure to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide mirrors those nations and individuals who do not acknowledge the Jewish Holocaust. Unfortunately, Israel does not stand alone in this regard: the U.S. Executive Branch has also failed to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide. The U.S. and Israel also need to acknowledge the genocide by Turkey between 1914-1923 of 350,000 Greeks of the Pontos, Black Sea region.

The attempts to deny the Jewish Holocaust have been vigorously denounced and rightly so by Israel and the U.S., in books, articles, speeches and in the media. Yet where is the outcry against Turkey's and Israel-s denial of the Armenian Genocide? And where is the outcry against Turkey's horrendous crimes against its Kurdish minority? It is imperative that the U.S. change its policy towards Turkey.

YRECENT QUAKES ON TURKISH-GREEK BORDER AND IRAN TO HAVE NO IMPACT ON SEISMIC SITUATION IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12. ARMINFO. The Jan 10-11 quakes on the Turkish-Greek border and Iran will have no impact on the seismic situation in Armenia, says the head of the National Seismic Protection Service of Armenia Alvaro Antonyan.

The sources of these quakes are situated far from Armenia and have nothing to do with the active breaks in the territory of Armenia. As for the jan 9 quake in Georgia - it was very weak and was typical for the background seismicity zone of Javakhk.

To remind, a 5.4 point earthquake took place 25 km north of the Iranian town of Gorgan Jan 10 10:47 pm. In the epicenter the magnitude was 7 points on the MSK-64 scale.

Two 5.1 point quakes shook the areas 60 km and 55 km of Mugla, the Turkish-Greek border, Jan 11 3:48 am and 3:50 am respectively. In the epicenter the magnitude was 6 points.

It is possible that the issue for dispatching doctors to one of the south-eastern countries suffering from the December 26 destructive tsunami will be discussed tomorrow on the regular session of the Armenia's government, Armenia's health-care minister Norayr Davidyan told ARMINFO.

He noted that the request for medical and humanitarian assistance was received from Sri-Lanka's government and WHO. Davidyan said that the humanitarian cargo consisting of medicaments (antibiotics, anesthetic, solutions, vitamins and orthopedic accessories), blankets, cloths and electric generators will be transported to Moscow within the next few days where for further coordination.

HEAD OF ARMENIAN DELEGATION TO PACE REFUTES INFORMATION OF AZERBAIJANI MASS MEDIA SAYING THAT ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT HAS APPEALED TO CE LEADERSHIP TO MAKE CORRECTIONS IN REPORT REGARDING NAGORNY KARABAKH

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12. ARMINFO. Tigran Torosian, Head of Armenian delegation to PACE, Vice Speaker of National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, refuted the information of Azerbaijani mass media saying that the parliament of Armenia has sent a letter to CE Secretary General and PACE Chairman, requiring to make corrections in the report of David Atkinson concerning Nagorny Karabakh.

As Tigran Torosian told ARMINFO, such an information is not only false, but it is also an absurd. Head of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs Armen Rustamian had declared that the Armenian delegation is elaborating a strategy and proposals for making amendments to the report of David Atkinson on Nagorny Karabakh.
