ONE SHOULD NOT FORCE CONFLICTING PARTIES INTO PEACE

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. There must be no unhealthy rivalry between Russia and the US or the EU in CIS conflicts settlement, says special representative of the Russian president to the CIS countries Vyacheslav Trubnikov.

Russia has never refused from wide international cooperation and from giving forces keeping peace in the CIS an international status with the involvement of the CIS, UN and OSCE. But it is a big delusion to think that one can force peace on conflicting parties. "We object to hastily breaking already established settlement formats."

IF TURKEY DOES NOT RE-OPEN ITS BORDER WITH ARMENIA IT WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO EU: TORBEN HOLTZE

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. Turkey cannot become a member of the European Union (EU) if it fails to meet the organization's requirements particualrly that concerning the re-opening of its border with Armenia, Head of the European delegation of the Armenia-EU Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission Torben Holtze told ARMINFO.

Concerning the second EU requirement about the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Holtze said: "Armenians' suffering in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 is an indisputable historical fact, and Turkey must admit it." Speaking of the prospects of Armenia's admission to the EU, he stressed that it will take several years more. According to him, to get integrated into the EU Armenia needs structural political, economic and social reforms.

As regards the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it must be settled in a peaceful way, Holtze said. It is a most delicate issue, he said. The right of the Nagorno-Karabakh people must be respected, and if no other ways of settlement are found, Nagorny Karabakh must at least be granted the highest-level autonomy, Holtze said.

ARMENIA REGRETS AT OSCE CHAIRMAN IN OFFICE NOT CONDEMNING BUDAPEST CRIME

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. Armenia deeply regrets that the OSCE chairman-in-office has not condemned the Budapest murder of an Armenian officer by his Azeri counterpart, Armenia's Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan said during his today meeting with OSCE chairman-in-office Solomon Passi.

This step would be appropriate considering Azerbaijan's attempts to excuse the murderer.

MONUMENT OT VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE TO BE SET UP IN LYONS

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. A monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide is to be set up in Lyons, France.

The press service of the Ra Foreign Office reports that the ceremonial laying of the monument was held at the Lyons Municipality on March 15. Attending the ceremony were Armenia's Ambassador to France Eduard Nalbandyan, Mayor of Lyons, Senator Gerar Colomb. "The existence of dozens of monuments to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, which were set up both before and after France adopted the Law recognizing the Armenian Genocide, are an importance factor in battling the negation of the Genocide," Nalbandyan said. The monument is expected to be set up at one of the central squares in Lyons.

FLESH COMPANY HAS PETROL RESERVES FOR 20 DAYS

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. One of the largest oil-traders of Armenia, Flesh company, has petrol reserves for 20 days, Flesh Ltd told ARMINFO commenting on the possible rise in the price of petroleum products on the internal market of Armenia in connection with the events in Ajaria.

According to the source, in spite of the situation in Georgia and a sharp rise in petroleum prices, the company will hardly change its prices in the coming week. In future, some rise in wholesale prices of petrol are possible, with preservation of the retail prices on the current level. The company reported that the Georgian authorities promised to solve the problem within the coming days, in spite of the fact that port Poti is smaller than Batumi and there is no petroleum terminal there.

It should be noted that petrol filling stations of Flesh company provide Regular-91 petrol for 290 drams/liter, Premium-95 for 310 drams/liter, Super-98 for 340 drams/liter, diesel fuel for 190 drams/liter. The wholesale bases of the company, Regular-91 is sold for 267-272 drams/liter, Premium-95 for 280-285 drams/liter, and diesel fuel for 181-188 drams/liter.

RA NA APPROVES AMENDMENTS TO LAW "ON APPROVAL OF RULES OF GARRISON AND PATROL DUTIES"

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. The Armenian Parliament has approved in the first reading the amendments to the Law "On the approval of rules of garrison and patrol duties".

RA Deputy Minister of Defense Artur Aghabekyan, who presented the bill, reported that the reason for the adoption of the bill is the necessity of specifying the order of keeping servicemen in garrison disciplinary wards of the Ministry of Defense. The goal of the bill is also harmonizing some points of the rules with the rest of the country's legislation. Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Defense, Security and internal Affairs Mher Shahgeldyan proposed reducing the maximum term of keeping servicemen in isolation wards from 30 to 7 days.

"ARMENICUM" APPLIED FOR TUBERCULOSIS TREATMENT

YEREVAN, MARCH 17. ARMINFO. "Armenicum" medical preparation will be applied when treating Tuberculosis, Public Health Minister of Armenia Norayr Davtyan told ARMINFO.

The minister said that recently "Armenicum," which is a medicine against AIDS, was tested when treating TB patients. In the course of a three-moth testing, the efficiency of the medicine will be determined for treatment of the given disease. In case of a positive result, the spectrum of "Armenicum"'s usage will be expanded. Davtyan said that "Armenicum" is recognized and applied for treatment of AIDS patients in a number of foreign states: Turkey, Georgia, Russia etc.. The minister said that tuberculosis and AIDS are mutually connected diseases. "TB is one of the most initial factors of AIDS infection and requires a complex treatment," Davtyan said.
