NO ARMENIAN CITIZENS AMONG VICTIMS OR DEATH AS RESULT OF ROOF FALL AT AQUA-PARK "TRANSVEIL" IN YASENEVO REGION, MOSCOW

LUXEMBOURG EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE REJECTS CLAIM OF EURO-ARMENIA UNION YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16. ARMINFO. The Luxembourg European Court of Justice has rejected a claim lodged by the French Euro-Armenia Union on the admissibility of granting Turkey the right to membership in the European Union. The Turkish "Aksham" newspaper reported that, according to the claimants, the granting of this right to Turkey runs counter to the European Parliament's resolution of June 18, 1987, recognizing the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. The Court ruled that the aforementioned resolution is purely political, and the arguments contained in the claim "do not correspond to the facts." The claim was lodged last October by the leaders of the Euro-Armenia Union Grigor Grigoryan and Suzan Grigoryan. LEADER OF DUTCH DIOCESE OF ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH, ARCHIMANDRITE MANUEL YERKATYAN DIED YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16. ARMINFO. The member of the Jerusalem Patriarchy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Leader of the AACH Diocese in Holland, Archimandrite Manuel Yerkatyan died in the hospital of the Dutch town of Almelo. The Press-Service of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin told ARMINFO that Manuel Yerkatyan was born in 1954 in Istanbul. His spiritual education he received in Jerusalem Seminary in 1968-1973. Then he returned to Constantinople. In 1976 he was consecrated as priest, in 1977 entered the Jerusalem Patriarchy of the AACH, In 1980 he was arrested in Istanbul for a political charge and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. Since 1991 up to his death he served as Leader of the AACH Diocese in Holland. On Feb 15 Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II gave a commemoration liturgy at the Cathedral of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin for Archimandrite Yerkatyan. The funerals will be held in Grigor Lusavorich (the Enlightener) Church in Almelo today. NKR MPs PAY HOMAGE TO FIRST CHAIRMAN OF NKR PARLIAMENT STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 16. ARMINFO. Today the MPs of the Nagorny Karabakh Republic paid homage to the First Chairman of the NKR Parliament Artur Mkrtchyan, who would become 45 today. According to ARMINFO's correspondent to Stepanakert, NKR Parliamentary Speaker Oleg Yesayan made a speech in this connection, pointing out that it has become tradition marking the birthdays and the date of the tragic death of Artur Mkrtchyan. MPs told about the best qualities of Mkrtchyan. MP Vahram Balayan said that Artur Mkrtchyan was not only a political figure, but also a scientist who approached all the political developments from scientific point of view. The trial in the court of first instance of Yerevan's Arabkir community on the fact of sale of the territory of the polyclinic "Magnolia, which has earlier belonged to the Union of writers of Armenia, scheduled for March 4 of the current year. Chairman of the Union of writers Levon Ananian told ARMINFO, because of his absence in the country that day, the sitting may be postponed for several days. Ananian is sure that they will succeed to win the legal proceedings, as "the law is in their side". It should be noted that the Union of writers is the founder of the outpatient polyclinic. We shall remind that the outpatient clinic, which served 400 writers free of charge, was sold for 4.3 mln drams by the Arabkir administration on January 8, 2004 without the writers' knowledge. At the same time, according to the clause 18 of Armenia's law "On state property privatization", the polyclinic should be sold to its founder by a direct sale. Chairman of the Commission issuing relevant licenses, RA Ministry of Finance and Economy, David Avetissian stated that if the company violates the law once more its license will be revoked. Moscow, Saturday evening. Press-Secretary of the Armenian Embassy in
