The sentence passed on the president's bodyguard Aghamal Harutiunian is a glaring testimony to the lack of judicial system in Armenia, Chairman of the Helsinki Committee of Armenia Avetik Ishkhanian told ARMINFO. According to him, the sentence is a strong evidence that the country's judicial system depends on the executive power. Ishkhanian expressed confidence that in Armenian society, where the trust in the judicial system is shaken, the atmosphere of distrust will be aggravated. The country lacks legal bases of statehood, he said. Ishkhanian said that the sentence testifies that a person is defenseless in Armenia.
