FLIGHTS TO BAKU AND YEREVAN FEBRUARY 9.The "Silk Road" Airline, established under TRASECA program, will open Tbilisi-Baku and Tbilisi-Yerevan air links at the end of February. According to the Georgian mass media, the Company's Manager Georgi Lashkhi said at present the company has two 30-seat planes of Brazilian production Embraer-120. Their speed is 650 km/h, the cost being $12mln. The "Silk Road" Georgian-American Airline was founded in the summer of 2001 by the Georgian "Samgori" company (60% of stocks) and by the American "Silk Road Airways" company (40% of stocks). Pilots of this company underwent training at the world-known Le Burje Center in France. They will teach the Georgian pilots the exploitation methods of the Embraer-120 class plains in a month. The plains were leased to Georgia by the Holand Airlines in December 2001. MORE AND MORE CONGRESSMEN COME OUT FOR USA'S RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE FEBRUARY 8. The number of congressmen who are for the USA's recognizing the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 is increasing. Hence, the number of congressmen coming out for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide totals 22. Besides, a Remembrance Day for the victims of the Armenian Genocide will be held in the Gold Room at the Capitol Hill April 17. ARMENIAN GENOCIDE AT FORTHCOMING SESSION FEBRUARY 9. The Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) intends to raise an issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 at a regular PACE session, Head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Hovhannes Hovhannissyan told an ARMINFO correspondent. He said the Armenian part has already collected 120 signatures of PACE deputies, and the issue is most likely to be included in PACE agenda. As regards a statement of Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Rivka Koen on inadmissibility of drawing a parallel between the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide, Hovhannissyan said the statement aroused concern of the Armenian political circles. "Such a high ranking diplomat has no right of making such a statement," the Hovhannissyan said, pointing out that the Israeli ambassador should have to study the Armenian history before her arrival to Yerevan. "No diplomat has a right of amending the history of the country he works in," Hovhanness Hovhannissyan said.
