19-YEAR OLD RESIDENT OF YEREVAN IRINA TOVMASYAN PROCLAIMED MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL OF ARMENIA IN 2001

OCTOBER 26. 19-year old resident of Yerevan Irina Tovmasyan was proclaimed the most beautiful girl of Armenia in 2001 at a competition "Miss-Armenia" yesterday. Narine Vaparyan got the title of Vice Miss Armenia 2001 and 23-year old Lilit Avetyan got the third prize. Resident of Karabakh Anait Azizyan received a special prize from Converse-Bank. It should be noted that organizer of all the previous Miss-Armenias, held since 1996, artistic manager of the State Chamber Theater Ara Yerjankyan said he was going to sue the organizers of the current competition, the National Agency Miss-Armenia for violating his copyright.

MAYOR OF YEREVAN RECEIVED FRENCH DELEGATION

OCTOBER 26. Yerevan's Mayor Robert Nazaryan received a French delegation headed by Mayor of Marseilles Jean-Claude Gauden. The delegation came to Armenia to confirm and renew the agreement on cooperation between Marseilles and Yerevan, signed in 1994. The agreement covers cooperation in the spheres of culture and economy as well as professional training of experts. Gauden granted Yerevan's municipality two French buses to enter municipal routes shortly. Two more buses were granted to the Yerevan State Medical University. To recap, Gauden is the vice president of the French parliament. He has made a great contribution to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by France. The French delegation numbering 42 people will stay in Yerevan till Ot 28. The delegation will visit Matenadaran, the Holy See of Echmiadzin, will meet with speaker of the Armenian parliament and the president of Armenia.

TWO YEARS LATER

OCTOBER 27.Flowers were put today at 10:00 a.m. to memory of died during the terrorist act in Armenian parliament, on Oct 27, 1999. After the ceremony of putting flowers the speaker of Armenian parliament Armen Khachatryan and the parliament members in the city pantheon put wreaths to the grave of the chairman of the parliament Karen Demirchyan, and in the Alley of honorable burial in Yerablur to the grave of the prime minister Vazgen Sargsyan, died by the hand of terrorists. The parliamentarians will put wreaths to graves of other died as well.

IN 2002 CHAIRMANSHIP OF BSEC TO BE TRANSFERRED TO ARMENIA

OCTOBER 27. The fifth meeting of the members of the Council of ministers of countries of Black Sea economic cooperation was finished in Turkish city Antalia. As the press office of Armenia's Foreign Ministry informed ARMINFO, the deputy foreign minister of Armenia Armen Martirosyan headed the Armenian delegation. Main problems of further development of regional cooperation, joint fulfillment of a number of programs were discussed during the sitting. The meeting concluded Turkey's 6-months chairmanship in the BSEC. Henceforth the role of the chair in the BSEC has been given to the Ukraine, and in May-Nov of 2002 Armenia will undertake the chairmanship in the BSEC.

LARGE INTERNATIONAL CONTEST TO BE HELD THROUGH MEDIATION OF SPAIN'S QUEEN AND FIRST LADY OF ARMENIA

OCTOBER 27. The Armenia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Spain and Portugal Edward Khojayan in Madrid met with the Queen of Spain Sofia. As the press office of Armenia's Foreign Ministry informed ARMINFO, in the course of the meeting the diplomat handed the Queen and the members of Spanish royal family the invitation of the Catholicos of All Armenians and of the first lady of Armenia Bela Kocharyan to visit Armenia any time they like. In the course of the meeting its participants discussed issues of Armenian-Spanish cooperation in cultural sphere. The Queen confirmed her opinion with Bela Kocharyan to hold an international large contest.
