ARMENIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS APPLIED TO ARMENIAN PRESIDENT WITH DEMAND OF ARMENIAN MILITARY PROCURATOR'S RESIGNATION
OCTOBER 2. Today the Union "Constitutional Right"
(UCR) Party will address its demand of Armenian Military Procurator
Gagik Jangiryan's resignation to Robert Kocharyan.
The above letter was signed by 8 parliamentary deputies, including
Haik Babukhanyan, Hamayak Hovhannisyan, Gagik Kostandyan and others,
UCR Leader Hrant Khachatryan told ARMINFO.
The Armenian parliamentarians' demand is based on complaints of
military servicemen's parents, who insist not only on Jangiryan's
resignation, but also on bringing of an action against him. In
particular, the deputies mentioned facts of violations carried out by
the Procurator's Office in the course of judicial investigation.
RUSSIA TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTION AGAINST INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM,
IN CONFORMITY WITH PRINCIPLES STATED BY RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, HEAD OF
RUSSIAN GENERAL HEADQUARTERS GENERAL OF ARMY ANATOLI KVASHIN SAYS
OCTOBER 2.Russia will take part in the
international action against terrorism, in conformity with principles
stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Talking to ARMINFO
correspondent, Head of the General Headquarters of the Russian Armed
Forces, General of the Army Anatoli Kvashin made this statement. The
General arrived in Yerevan today.
He said that the main direction of Russia's participation in the
above action is making of a humanitarian aid to Afghanistan's people.
In this connection, the first Russian airplane from the Ministry of
Extreme Situations of Russia with a humanitarian aid has
already arrived in Afghanistan today. "No participation of special
subdivisions of Russia and other CIS countries aimed
against international terrorism is scheduled," Kvashin pointed out.
The Russian General also said that Moscow accepts Armenia's decision
to provide its air-space for the US aviation quite calmly. "It is
normal, as the flights are carried out via territory of bordering
countries.
NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR TELEVISION AND RADIO REJECTS CHANGES IN LAW
ON TV AND RADIO ADOPTED BY PARLIAMENT RECENTLY
OCTOBER 2.The national commission for television and radio rejects the changes in the law on TV and radio adopted by the Armenian parliament recently, representatives of the above commission said during the hearings held by the parliamentary commission for issues of culture, youth and sports today. The bill envisages licensing for those companies only which relay programs while the companies producing programs are except from the procedure. According to the national commission, producers carry the responsibility for programs they produce and must go through the procedure of licensing without fail. The MPs, on the contrary, insist on the responsibility of the companies relaying programs and stressed the need of their licensing. Chairman of the national commission Grikor Amaryan said the licensing of TV and radio-producers will promote the growth of competition and improve the quality of programs. However, representatives of private TV companies and members of the parliamentary commission do not share this point of view considering that the licensing of producers may lead to some problems.-0- SEVERAL POLITICAL FORCES IN AZERBAIJAN AND GEORGIA DO NOT WANT ARMENIA TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL ANTI-TERRORIST OPERATION OCTOBER 2.Armenia's participation in the
international anti-terrorist operation may lead to a nuclear
catastrophe for the Caucasian region. A diversion or a failure
at the ANPS will become "a second Chernobil" for the region, Leader
of the "Greens" Party of Georgia Georgi Gachechiladze stated in his
interview to the "Prime-News" Georgian Agency.
The Azeri newspapers are of the same opinion referring to experts on
nuclear security of Georgia and Azerbaijan. They says that joining
the anti-terrorist operation of the USA, Armenia run a serious risk,
as the Western secret services do not exclude terrorist attacks on
nuclear stations and other objects, destruction of which may lead to
an effect of a weapon of mass annihilation.
NOBODY HAS RIGHT TO SOLVE PROBLEM BY FORCEFUL METHODS
OCTOBER 2.Nobody has right to solve the problem of Nagorny Karabakh by forceful methods. As today the defence minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan stated, commenting by the request of an ARMINFO correspondent on the expressions of the head of the defence department of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev on Baku's intention to begin military hostilities in Nagorny Karabakh, "nobody has right to solve problems by weapon". According to the minister, "if familiar desirers appear, they will burn their hands". Besides, even the support of Turkey will not help Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan thinks. |
