SED MARSED CONSULTATIVE COMPANY IS EXCLUSIVE REPRESENTATIVE OF "MARKETOLOG" MAGAZINE IN ARMENIA

SEPTEMBER 18. The investment-consultative Sed Marsed company which publishes the magazine "Capital Market in Armenia" became the exclusive representative of one of the most authoritative professional magazines of Russia - "Marketolog" (Marketing specialist). The well known contemporary marketing specialists F.Kotler, A.Braverman, V.Politis are involved into the editorial staff of this international publication. According to the executive director of the Sed Marsed company Tigran Jrbashyan, the knowledge of contemporary methods of marketing and advertising, news and qualified information about the current situation in the markets and many other things will, of course, be useful for the Armenian businessmen to be competitive in the interior and exterior markets. Jrbashyan said that the "Marketolog" will help the Armenian manufacturers to promote their production in the priority Russian market. It should be told that the "Marketolog" became the second Russian publication after the "Securities Market" magazine which interest is represented in Armenia by the Sed Marsed company

NEW ALTAR TO BE OPENED IN ECHMIADZIN ON SEPTEMBER 22

SEPTEMBER 18. The first divine service to be held on the newly opened altar in front of the Cathedral at the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin on September 22, the Holy Echmiadzin press-office told ARMINFO. The construction of the altar was dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity as a State Religion in Armenia. Since, all the religious feasts will be held here, as during the mass it will involve more people than the Cathedral. The first stone in the construction of the altar was laid on September 30, 2000. The project was drafted by the Armenian famous architects Jim Torosyan and Romen Julakyan. The altar has a modern stylistic decision, its height being 14 meters. The Cathedral gates were expanded, so as to include the altar on their territory. The construction was carried out due to patrons of art Luise-Simon Manukyan and Senik Gevorgyan.

RUSSIA'S PRESIDENT GAVE UNIQUE PRESENT TO HOUSE-MUSEUM OF SERGEY PARAJANOV IN YEREVAN

SEPTEMBER 18. The House-Museum of Sergey Parajanov, the great Armenian film director, received an unexpected present from Russia's President Vladimir Putin. It was Parajanov's picture, the museum's director Zaven Sarkisyan told ARMINFO. He said the picture depicts scenes from a city life drawn in oil. This may be one of the most rare early works of the famous director. The House-Museum of Parajanov is one of the most popular museums in Armenia. Pres.Putin visited the museum in May during the summit of the Treaty of Collective Security. Sept 14 Putin was also expected to visit the museum but as his visit was shortened he was unable to visit it. Nevertheless, he didn't leave the museum without attention. The new picture will be included in the permanent exposition very soon.

EXPOSITION "ARMENIA TO PHILANTHROPISTS" WAS OPENED IN NATIONAL GALLERY, DEVOTED TO PEOPLE, WHO HAVE GIFTED CANVASES OF WELL-KNOWN ARTISTS TO THE MUSEUM

SEPTEMBER 18. "Armenia to philanthropists" is the exhibition, opened in National gallery, devoted to private persons, who in different years have gifted to the main museum of the country works of art. During different years the gallery has got gifts from different private persons canvases of Armenian, Russian, French artists. Rockwell Kent, Garzu, Hakop Hakopyan have gifted their works to the gallery. Several collectors have made surprises to the gallery in the kind of canvases of Ayvazovsky, Minas. The exposition had to involve the whole "gift" fund, but the exhibition appeared to be by volume. The organizers come to nothing more than mentioning the number of gifts and the photo of each philanthropist next to it.

EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO 10 ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE HAS BEEN OPENED IN ARMENIA'S NATIONAL GALLERY

SEPTEMBER 18.The exhibition dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Armenia's independence has been opened in Armenia's National Gallery. Works of modern Armenian painters over 50 years old were exposed. According to the director of the National Gallery Shahen Khachatryan, the age level was lifted specially. "These are mainly people who have already pronounced their word in the art and are loved by public," Khachatryan said. Works of Hakob Hakobyan attracted the larger part of the visitors, like always, because of the keen and laconic expression of his attitude towards the reality. Hakobyan presented with three canvases. The central one represent the rally in the square of Freedom which took place ten years ago. The crowd with portraits of Gorbachov and the general Andranik are shown. A cloud with a jazz band flies over them. People who are going to emigrate are in an endless line. The third canvas shows one of the famous Hanobyan's deserts with thorns.

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ARMENIANS IN NAKHICHEVAN APPLIED TO RUSSIAN PRESIDENT CALLING FOR DECLARING AGREEMENT OF MARCH 16, 1921 NULL AND VOID

SEPTEMBER 18. The National Council of Armenians in Nakhichevan applied to the Russian President Vladimir Putin calling for declaring the agreement concluded on March 16, 1921 null and void. The document was signed by the Soviet Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, as a result of which Nakhichevan, the historical part of Armenia, became an autonomous republic as a part of Azerbaijan. The Coincil representatves call the Russian president for correcting this historical unfairness, "due to wich" the Armenians were ousted from Nakhichevan. The above agreement contradict the International Law and juridical norms, as it was signed without Armenia's participation and did not take into account interests of the Armenian people.

CE'S REPORT ABOUT POLITICAL PRISONERS IN ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN TO BE "EXTREMELY CRITICAL," PACE HEAD SAYS

SEPTEMBER 18. The Council of Europe's report about the political prisoners in Armenia and Azerbaijan is to be "extremely critical," at the end of his visit to the South Caucasus Head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Lord Russel-Johnston told the AFP Agency. He said that despite of the tough report, no threat of ousting Armenia and Azerbaijan from the CE has existed so far. The PACE head also stated that a definite negative reaction will, indeed, arise, but taking into account the fact of the two countries' becoming the CE members, no " harsh Draconian measures" will be taken. The aforementioned report was signed by the Secretary General Walter Shwimer. The measures are supposed to be determined in the near future, which must be taken, in accordance with the facts represented in the report.

COURT OF FIRST INSTANCE CHOSE KEEPING AZAT ARSHAKYAN UNDER CUSTODY AS PREVENTIVE PUNISHMENT TO

SEPTEMBER 18. Today the court of the first instance of the Yerevan communities Center and Nork-Marash chose as preventive punishment the keeping of the former deputy of Armenian parliament, the member of the boars of the "Ankakhutian banak" organization Azat Arshakyan under custody for two months. Asrhakyan was detained on Sept 14, connected with the reveal of a big number of weapons in his room. He was accused of illegal carrying, keeping of weapons and ammunitions. Arshakyan, answering the questions of the journalists assumed that it may be a political hidden motive and called it as provocation. He mentioned that he had no idea of weapons. Arshakyan's lawyer Robert Grigoryan expressed confidence in that Arshakyan he has not kept weapons and the question is about other persons, not specifying, which persons he meant. According to him, the law-enforcement bodies did not have any bases to arrest Arshakyan. The lawyer disproved the possibility of Arshakyan's connection with the Sept 11 murder of the counsellor of Armenia's prime minister Gagik Poghosyan.

ARMENIA'S DEFENCE MINISTRY DENIED INFORMATION OF NEWSPAPER "HAYKAKAN ZHAMANAK"

SEPTEMBER 18. Armenia's defence ministry denied facts published today in the Armenian opposition newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak". The press-service of the defence ministry told ARMINFO that the information about the fact that the arms confiscated on 14 Sept in the warehouse belonging to the former MP, now the member of the ruling body of the public society "Army of Independence", Azat Arshakyan was registered in Armenia's defence ministry does not correspond to the reality.
