ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN RELATIONS IN MILITARY SPHERE ARE SPECIFIC AND
RADICALLY DIFFERENT FROM RELATIONS OF MOSCOW AND YEREVAN IN ECONOMIC
SPHERE, ARMENIA'S DEFENCE MINISTER THINKS
SEPTEMBER 14. Armenian-Russian relations in the
military sphere are specific and radically different from relations
of Moscow and Yerevan in the sphere of economy, Armenia's defence
minister, secretary of the Security Council Serge Sargsyan told
during the press-conference of Armenia's and Russia's foreign
ministers.
The Armenian minister once more stressed that Armenian-Russian
if one tries to evaluate the bilateral cooperation in money, it
will be clear that Russia helps us significantly. Only the total
value of Armenian military students' charge free training in Russian
Federation is $50 mln. Besides, Russian Active Air Defence complexes
C-300 are disposed for a military mission.
Serguey Ivanov: "It is not possible to measure the price of security,
and how to evaluate expanses, concerning the defence capacity and the
security in general". DEMOCRATIC FATHERLAND PARTY INSISTS THAT ITS LEADER WAS ARRESTED
ILLEGALLY
SEPTEMBER 14. Leader of the Democratic Fatherland
Petros Makeyan was arrested illegally, members of the political
council of the party said during a discussion of the internal
political situation in the country today.
To recap, Makeyan was detained in his flat Sept 7 evening and
sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest by the court of first
instance of Yerevan's Center-Nork Marash communities. Makeyan's
comrades-in-arms say the police arrested him without any warrant for
arrest and for search. They claim that Makeyan was beaten in the
presence of his 17-year old daughter and his flat was made a mess.
Member of the party's political council Goukas Megrabyan said the
authorities made a gross violation by arresting Makeyan. They
violated not only the Constitution but also provisions of a number
of international conventions for human rights.
"Since Robert Kocharyan usurped the power in 1998 the dictatorship of
terror has been reigning in the country, first, on the sly, and after
the Oct 27 act of terrorism openly," Megrabyan said.
It should be noted that leader of the Liberal-Democratic party Vigen
Khachatryan, leader of the Intellectual Armenia party Ovannes
Tokmajyan and other representatives of the Armenian Pan National
Movement, ruling the country formerly took part in the meeting.
However, soon the participants in the meeting distracted from the
subject of the discussion finding out that they have different views
of the causes of the acts of terrorism in the United States. It took
the organizers much effort to return the disputing oppositioners to
the issue they had met for.
