SCANDAL TOOK PLACE AT SECOND PAN ARMENIAN GAMES

A scandal took place during the Second Pan Armenian Games. The women's basketball team from Los-Angeles refused to continue the second half of the match against the Yerevan team and walked out the playground in protest.

The American sportswomen reasoned their decision by a rough play of their Yerevan rivals. She also claim that the referees supported the host team. "Why should we play with the Yerevan team if they want to win by all means," said one of the Los-Angeles team players in a plaintive voice.

The managers of the Yerevan team, in their turn, said that the rival team played an extremely rough, a real American basketball and they "can't eat a defeat". However, the Los-Angeles team is recognized defeated, and the Yerevan team will meet with a team from Gyumri in the final game.

The finals of men's and women's volley-ball teams were identical. In both cases the gold medals will be disputed the Yerevan and Sisian teams. On Saturnday chess- and tennis-players will continue their struggle. The soccer and mini-football finals will also take place on this day.

ARMENIA'S SOCIALIST FORCES ARE READY TO SUPPORT ROBERT KOCHARIAN ON HIS WAY OF REGRET

AUGUST 25.  "If one fine morning Robert Kocharian wakes up and says: "What do I do ?," - I'll be the first to support him on his way of regret". The political secretary of the party
Socialist Armenia, former consultant on national security of the president Levon Ter-Petrosyan Ashot Manucharyan pronounced this pathetic speech during the meeting in the discussion club "Azdak".

According to Manucharyan, the socialist forces fight not personally against the president, but against the injustice which takes place in Armenia, but "as there are no hope that the president regrets, the socialist forces will fight with joint efforts for the dismissal of the president and the establishment of the justice".

Manucharyan, predicting hard times for Armenia because of worsening of the relations with Russia, Europe and the USA, thinks that "we in fact gave Russia to Azerbaijan". He finds the yesterday's declaration of the Council of Europe, according to which CE calls on the authorities of Karabakh to abstain from the elections of the local power bodies on 5 Sept, as a proof of the negative attitude of Europe.
