Several weeks ago in one of my messages I wrote that
"if we don't break universal laws, we may go anywhere,
do anything, and still be happy and fulfilled". A number of
people asked me what do I mean by that.
I don't agree with a notion that our life is strictly
determined, whether by God or by blind forces of nature.
I don't understand those who talk about "unlimited divine
potential" within, and at the same breath say that unless
we find "our true place" in the world, we will be miserable.
No, this is not so. If our potential is truly great, it has
to be manifested anywhere, anytime. Living from inside out,
we don't have to be worried and anxious about finding
"the right job", "the right partner", and so on. Happiness
and fulfillment are by-product of being fully ourselves.
Spiritual laws don't contradict the ones which are explored
by scientists, but often transcend them. Science studies the
physical realm, the realm of effects, while spirituality deals
with the realm of causes. Spiritual knowledge usually comes
trough intuitive insights, and when we apply it in our life,
we prove its truthfulness. "You shall know them by their
fruits". That's why it is possible to distinguish true
enlightenment from vain imagination.
At the same time, we should not jump into conclusions and
expect quick results. Many of life's processes and dynamics
are long-term ones. Yet they are always evident to those who
have eyes to see.
What makes universal laws so exciting? It is the fact that
they are universal. They can be learned and applied by all.
The law of gravity equally works for Catholics and Protestants,
for Muslims and for Hindus. There are no exceptions. The law
of Love works for Jews and for Buddhists, and even for atheists.
The same is true about the law of Growth, the law of
Creative Expression, the law of Sowing and Reaping - to name but
a few.
One of the most ignorant things I ever heard is that only
adherents of a particular religion are capable of expressing
true love. People just have to look around carefully enough to
find out that it is not so. When a certain group announces that
truth and love belong only to them, it is the sure sign that they
are mistaken.
There are no exclusive revelations. Divine knowledge and wisdom
are never concealed, God reveals all things to all people, freely
and without reservations. "He who has ears to hear, let him hear".
God never withholds anything from us - our problem is our
unwillingness to receive, our mental dullness and obsession with
petty ideas, fears, and anxieties.
Existence of an exclusive revelation would imply that people who
don't accept the authority of this revelation for some
personal reasons, or those who cannot comprehend it, or
those who weren't fortunate enough to hear it, are inferior
compared to the "chosen ones". My opinion is that it would be
cruel and unjust for God to make things this way.
Personally I claim no exclusive revelations from God. I don't
think that God has ever revealed to me anything which is not
available to all.
What about people who come to me with claims of exclusivity?
I am free to listen to them all and to find useful hints and
ideas. Gems of truth and wisdom could be found everywhere,
even in unexpected places. But I am not going to buy into
a suggestion that their wisdom is the only wisdom or the highest
wisdom people may have. God is infinitely more than even
the best channel of divine expression.
