Indeed, it takes great wisdom and love to go against
prevailing mental tendencies of our environment without
being rebellious. It is possible when we are in touch with
the Spirit of God within, which always encourages us to look
deeper and to aim higher. The Spirit of God is behind
every evolutionary process, including our own progressive
movement.
Rebellious attitude insists that the order of things is evil
and it should be destroyed. It makes us to fight with
the whole world. And yet the world is for us, not against
us. It is much better to invest our time, our energy, and
our passion into finding out new ideas and bringing them
into the manifestation.
This world is not a finished product. It never was, and it
will never be a finished product. It lives, and it changes.
Seeds of better future are growing now, although they might
not be apparent. Our part is to nurture those seeds and
to be patient before we will see their fruits.
The best possible way to participate in the world transformation
is to accept a fact that we are co-creators with God, endowed
with special talents in order to fulfill our life mission.
"To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for
the common good" (1 Corinthians 12:7, RSV), says Paul.
Let us note three important things:
First, all gifts are manifestations of the Spirit. It is
useless to distinguish between so-called "natural" and
"supernatural" endowments, for they all proceed from
the same Source. God expresses through us by those gifts.
Second, talents are given to everyone. There is no such a
thing as lack of gifts; yet in many instances those gifts
are neglected and undeveloped. Even if we were programmed
to perceive ourselves as common individuals, lacking special
gifts, now we may acquire totally new perspective. Our
attitude toward ourselves is the key. Once we accepted
that we are talented, our gifts are due to become visible.
Third, they are given "for the common good". They are not
to be used to gain financial profit or personal popularity,
although money and fame often come as by-product of
successful development of our gifts. Our focus should be
on others and their benefit. According to Jesus, the one
who serves becomes great.
Let me suggest some affirmations which we may use in order
to raise our level of creative expression:
My mind is linked to God, the Source of all great ideas. I am filled with courage and enthusiasm to move forward and to bring my ideas into visible manifestation. My creative ideas draw the resources which are required for their fulfillment. My talents and abilities, my goals and dreams are meant to bless the world. The creative power of God is at hand, and all things are possible.
