Eric Butterworth wrote following words in his deep and
insightful book In the Flow of Life:
"The great Truth taught by the mystics of all ages is: Life
is lived from within-out. This means that the whole universe
is concentrated at the point where you are. More than this -
you are the universe expressing as you. You are its living
enterprise. It forever stands behind you with its full
resources. However, the fullness of this universal support
comes through you and not just to you. The most profound
knowledge that you can attain is that your whole existence
flows forth inexorably from a universal process, which is
always from within-out".
There are two fundamental statements concerning the nature
of life:
- Life is essentially one, and it should be taken as the
whole system. All attempts to understand life by taking
it apart lead to errors;
- Life is the dynamic flow. Nothing is static, nothing is
motionless, nothing remains the same.
These facts explain why uncertainty of our existence which
we mentioned last week, cannot threaten us. We are alive,
and Life's greatest desire is to be expressed in us and
through us in its fullness. We are one with Life, and all
of its resources are available for us. At every moment they
are ready to sustain us and to provide for our needs. The flow
of Life is unceasing, and it carries us forward to our highest
good. It is conscious of our needs and deepest longings.
"Your Father knows what things you have need of, before
you ask Him".
What we need to do is to trust this flow and to move along
with it. But first, this flow of Life should be recognized.
For so many years we perceived ourselves apart from
the universal oneness. We thought that we should fight
against all the opposing circumstances in order to gain
success. Little did we know that our external conditions
are shaped by our states of consciousness, and to change
them we need to work from within-out.
Eric Butterworth suggested the following affirmation:
"Be still and know... I am in the flow".
The first requirement for those who want to move along
"The Yellow Brick Road" or spiritual unfoldment is to become
still. We need to still our worried and anxious thoughts
which lead to compulsive reactions. Those who cannot become
still, will never know.
By becoming still, we open ourselves to divine inspiration.
Then, we are free act on ideas which come to our mind, and
our work becomes easy and productive. After the cycle of
work is completed, there comes another rest - the rest
of fulfillment.
Jesus said, "If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of
your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest'."
Most people never realize how powerful they are. They feel
sorry for themselves and their apparent powerlessness. They
search for spiritual or psychological methods which promise
them more power. What really happens is that they scatter
their power by going against the flow of Life. But the way
to release their full potential is not to try harder, but
to relax.
But eagles fly, Carried by air. They don't crawl, They don't toil. Do you think it's unfair?
Outside, you might be a crawling snake,
