In truth, there is no lack. God's orderly universe is
the world of abundance, and we do well when we affirm divine
abundance - even in the face of appearances of lack.
However, some unpleasant human experiences are due
to lack of recognition and appropriation of God's gifts.
It has been said that God "supplies seed to the sower" -
that is, divine blessings come to us as seeds. But earlier
in the same letter, Paul wrote: "He who sows sparingly shall
also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully shall
also reap bountifully" (2 Corinthians 9:6).
It is possible to experience lack if we do not plant divine
seeds wisely and generously enough.
As we give, we receive more, so that in due time we could
give even more. But the proper order must be followed:
plant seeds first, then the increase will be manifested.
When it comes to giving, most people think in terms of
financial donations. I do believe that it is the essential
aspect of giving. But gifts of God, certainly, are not
limited by money. They include our creative abilities
at physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual planes.
All of them should be exercised and brought to maturity.
"I remind you to inflame anew the gift of God, which is
in you" (2 Timothy 1:6), wrote Paul. "Do not neglect the
gift in you... Meditate on these things; be in these things
in order that your improvement may appear to all"
(1 Timothy 4:14,15).
We all have a divine spark within - and it is up to us
to kindle this spark into a living flame, which will give
warmth and light to those around us.
What is the difference between average men and women -
and outstanding scientists, inventors, and spiritual
teachers? They all are gifted. God abides in them all.
The Spirit knocks into doors of everyone's consciousness.
Here and there, all people have flashes of divine
inspiration. New and exciting ideas are coming into
their minds - but the problem is, common people are too
busy to give them proper attention. They may proudly say
that they have no time for "idle fantasies", or
"superstitions", or "unrealistic projects", forgetting
that every significant human achievement looked unrealistic
before someone made it real.
Let us not give deaf ear to the voice of the Spirit within.
Let us be the ones who see and hear. The world depends
on dreamers who dream of better life for themselves and for
the rest of humanity, and then work on their fulfillment,
despite obstacles and criticism. They are God's gifts
to us all. And we ourselves are destined to become such
gifts.
Some people wonder how can they recognize their talents
and abilities. It is easy. Let them ask themselves:
"What are my interests? What do I dream about? What do
I visualise when I am alone, and nobody knows what's in
my mind?" Usually, our dreams reveal our hidden gifts,
waiting to be expressed. 'Trust the dreams, for in them
is hidden the gate to eternity", wrote Kahlil Gibran.
"Desire in the heart is always God tapping at the door
of your consciousness with His infinite supply - a supply
that is forever useless unless there be demand for it",
said Emilie Cady. Having in mind that we live, and move,
and have our being in the world of divine abundance, let
us freely dream and desire. Then, let us plant seeds which
are given to us - seeds of our creative potential, our love,
our faith, our wisdom, and our substance. As we become
wiser and more skillful creators, let us plant seeds
in greater measure. Demonstrations of abundance will
surely follow, just as the day follows the night.
