Faith can be defined as knowledge and application of spiritual
laws. The whole complex of these laws is often called
"divine order". Spiritual seekers are encouraged to affirm
divine order in all areas of their life for bringing about
the best possible manifestations of good. Let us therefore
give more attention to this concept.
Does divine order means something fixed and determined? No.
Quite the contrary, it implies constant reaching out for more.
Being grateful for what we have and what we achieved so far,
we make new steps of faith, realizing that divine order is
the new and yet undiscovered potential.
"Truly, truly I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works
that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he
shall do" (John 14:12), said Jesus.
As people heard these words and tried to interpret them,
they sometimes were impatient. They thought that this promise
relates to a single lifespan of a single individual, and
then they wondered why so few people could actually do the
things Jesus did. But we should consider them in a
different perspective - the one which is larger than our
limited human experience.
Greater works are still waiting for us. New treasures are
waiting to be discovered. New spiritual territories are waiting
to be possessed. New truths are waiting to become clearly
revealed. They are all part of divine order. Divine order
is the inner dynamic presence of God, tending toward the highest
good, the continuous growth and unfoldment. It is the moving
Force in and through all things.
Some men and women use the concept of divine order as an excuse
to be lazy, to sit idly back and wait for desired blessings
to appear by themselves. "If something has to happen, it
will happen, because divine order is established", they could
say. But we must be careful not to use spiritual rationalizations
for avoiding of our responsibility for active and creative
self-expression.
The truth is, divine order is being established through us.
We are co-workers with God in bringing the fullness of God's
potential into the manifestation. We are channels of divine order.
It is good and necessary to declare divine order, but let
it never makes us complacent. Be grateful, but don't be
content. Discontent is healthy, because it the sign of
greatness waiting to be born.
Some people apparently don't like the idea of divine order,
thinking that is is determinism. They are proud of taking
the stand for freedom, not realizing that order and freedom
are not opposed to each other. They complement each other.
The fact that the world is orderly, cannot bind us. It gives
us feelings of stability, confidence, and predictability,
which are necessary for free self-expression. Knowing that
particular actions lead to particular results, we may direct
our activities as we choose.
Take, for example, the sailor. It would be foolish for him
to say, "I don't like wind, it is deterministic". Wind exists,
no matter what he thinks about it. But the skillful sailor
can adjust his sails in such a way that his vessel goes into
the point of destination. Knowledge of winds and sails make
him the master of the sea. This perfectly applies to us.
Knowledge of divine order and adjustment to it makes us masters
of life.
Here are several affirmations we could use:
Divine order is established in my relationships with others. I love, and I am loved. Divine order brings me the supply I need. I give, and it is given back to me. Divine order heals me and keeps me whole. I am filled with life and vitality. Divine protects me and my loved ones from all harm. We are well-adjusted to life, safe and secure under God's loving protection. The whole universe supports and sustains me. All is well.
