The Information Channel Felist.Com -*-------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNITY WAY May 11, 2003 ------------------------------------------------------ Search for the Truth: Wonder By Andrei Yashurin Life is a grand mystery, but this is not a reason to be afraid. It is a reason to wonder - and to rejoice over God's wonder-filled world. Wonder is the second important step of our search for God's Truth: "When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel". Webster's dictionary defines "to marvel" as "to be struck with surprise, astonishment, or wonder". Truly, the bright and fresh world we live in gives us thousands upon thousands of reasons to marvel, and the only opportunity to avoid this feeling is to have our mind closed to the newness of life. Some people, consciously or unconsciously, are eager to write off all mysteries and wonders of life. They worship a false god of intellectual security, which insists that everything in their life has to be known and understood. Little do they realize that when security becomes the end of itself, it is lost. We find security as we seek the Kingdom of God - the Kingdom of Expansion and Growth. Security is not a point we may reach, it is not a thing we may hold on to. It is not found in combination of "correct" ideas, principles, or dogmas. We are secure as long as we go with the flow of life, the flow which continuously carries us forward to greater self-realization and unfoldment. It is safe to say that we truly grow when we wonder. Wonder is a sign of openness. The feeling of wonder indicates that our discoveries are grand and fundamental ones. We dig deep enough into life to find precious diamonds, not being satisfied with pebbles on the surface. Truth is uncommon. There is something uncommon about every true statement and true spiritual experience, - just us it is uncommon to see people walking on water, or to see burning bushes, not being consumed by fire. When we know it right from the beginning, we have less chances to be lead astray by commonly held ideas of how the Truth should look like. Disturbance and wonder go hand in hand. When we feel that our current understanding is shuttered, fear comes in, and we are tempted to draw back to our comfort zone. But, at the same time, there comes that "unspeakable joy" of fresh revelation. It assures us that there is something greater than all we used to know and experience so far, and the conflict is resolved. We continue to move on, courageously and enthusiastically. In our search for God and for the Truth, we can start anywhere we want, because God is everywhere, as the substance of all. If we are persistent enough, we will reach the point of destination. The major requirement is to be enthusiastic. The word "enthusiasm" comes from Greek "en theos", that is, "in God". Let us find, therefore, something we can be passionate about, something to which we can dedicate ourselves without reservations, something which reinforces in us the feeling of wonder. It will surely help us to find God and to know God better than ever before. ------------------------------------------------------ Andrei Yashurin: admin@unityway.net http://unityway.net/zine Positive Christianity E-zine If you like our list, please recommend it to others.
