"If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31), enthusiastically exclaimed Paul, comprehending the greatness of divine power and divine love. However, this question has an answer. We can be our worst enemies, if we allow ourselves to entertain thoughts which are contrary to God's Truth. We are divinely protected from anybody and anything, except ourselves, because God never interferes with our freedom of choice.

Our most important choice, the one that we make almost every second, is between self-limiting and and self-affirming thoughts and attitudes. No enemy can take away our good, but we ourselves may refuse to accept it.

Why shouldn't we want to be successful? For the fear of pride and consequent punishment? For the fear of changes? For the fear of others? All objections against success we may remember, even so-called scriptural objections, are too shallow. God thinks that we deserve to use and to enjoy all good things in our world, otherwise they would never appear. As humans, we've been destined to experience the fullness of life. Life was not meant for trials and tribulations, and we know it deep in our hearts, even if we've been taught something different since our childhood.

"Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life"(Proverbs 4:23). In other words, we need to be watchful, not allowing our hearts and minds to be polluted by negativism. If our innermost springs will remain pure, our whole life will reflect this purity and divine perfection.

But why do people accept wrong ideas about God, life, and themselves?

One of the reasons is soul attachment to those who express these ideas. The fact is, we want to love, and to be loved, especially when it comes to our authority figures. Most of us would like to be loyal to our parents and teachers, to those who influenced us in a positive way, to those whom we admire and respect. There is nothing wrong with being loving and loyal - but sometimes we come to a point when we stop being watchful. We don't judge words of those people careful enough, being ready to swallow anything that they say.

My advise is to act in a different way, and to have a mind of our own, especially when we interact with those whom we love. Let us do our own thinking, and, if necessary, dare to be different. True love will never be diminished in a case of honest and sincere disagreement. Our supreme love should be love to God's Truth. Our supreme loyalty should be loyalty to God's Truth, for there is nothing higher.
