We enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, into the realm of God-kind
of life, through conversion. There is no other way. However,
the process of conversion needs to be properly defined. What
we are to be converted to? What we are to be converted from?
"Truly I say to you, Unless you convert and become as the
little children, not at all can you enter into the kingdom
of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3, Literal Translation), said Jesus.
Popular religious teachings of our days often insist that we
should convert to particular set of doctrinal statements,
or even to a certain religious group which declares itself
as "the only true Church". Indeed, when we analyze ideas
of Jesus, we may derive from them a sort of doctrine.
But if we will take His sayings at their face value,
we will see that He never taught on doctrines. His teaching
primarily dealt with attitudes new and positive attitudes
to God, to ourselves, to other people, and to the world around us.
His call to conversion is the call repent, to let go our old
ways, and to embrace new ways of thinking and living
new attitudes.
"Blessed are the meek" (Matthew 5:5). Meekness is not a doctrine it is an attitude.
"Do not judge, that you may not be judged" (Matthew 7:1).
Tolerance is not a doctrine it is an attitude.
"Seek, and you will find" (Matthew 7:7). Spiritual search
is not a doctrine it is an attitude.
"Love one another as I loved you" (John 13:34).
Love is not a doctrine it is an attitude.
Knowledge, even the knowledge on God, apart from development
of Christ attitudes, brings more harm than good. "Knowledge
puffs up, but love edifies" (1 Corinthians 8:1). Being aware
of this, Jesus encourages us to accept attitudes of little
children, or, rather, our inner child. Children may not know
much, but their attitudes are naturally right.
Children are trustful.
As we develop those attitudes, we pull down all the barriers
that block our entrance into the Kingdom. We begin to live
as God meant us to live - freely and abundantly.
Let these words be our constant prayer:
I empty myself of my "possessions" to be filled by You. Lord, I convert from narrow thoughts and a tunnel vision of reality to childlike openness. I lift up my eyes to behold the wonder of life in its various aspects. Lord, I convert from stiff and rigid outlook. I am willing to extend my boundaries, to unfold, and to expand. Lord, I quit playing a "know-it-all" adult, accepting the fact that life is always fresh, always new, always surprising. The only constant is change. The only certainty is the process of growth. Lord, I convert from life which is centered on myself to life which is centered on You. Fearlessly and joyfully, I enter into Your kingdom.
We would like to give you an opportunity to share your prayer request with us. My Faith I do not believe in evil. I believe in good. I do not believe in sin. I believe in Truth. I do not believe in want. I believe in Abundance. I do not believe in death. I believe in Life. I do not believe in ignorance. I believe in Intelligence.
There are no discords in my being. Being is peace. "What God joined together let no man put asunder".
