The Information Channel Felist.Com -*-------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNITY WAY August 11, 2002 ------------------------------------------------------ A Child Within By Andrei Yashurin In his classical book The Games People Play, Eric Bern talks of the Child, Adult and Parent within each of us. Since I read his study of those three levels of our personalities, it became easier for me to understand what Jesus possiblely meant when He said, "Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it" (Mark 10:15), and "Whoever shall receive this child in My name receives Me" (Luke 9:48). The kingdom of God is the kingdom of wholeness. To fully enter into this kingdom, we need to develop and to align with divine laws all the aspects of our lives, including spirit, soul, body, and relationships. If we settle for something less than wholeness in any particular area, we choose something less than the kingdom. For so long, people has been taught to develop Parent and Adult aspects of their personalities, especially in spiritual matters. Certainly, there are many things in God's world we need to be serious about. But if we loose touch with our Child level, our progress becomes distorted and unbalanced, just like it happened with the dry and lifeless Pharisees at the time of Jesus. To grow into the full reazilation of God's kingdom realities, I encourage you to meditate upon all three aspects of your soul. Expressing ourselves at Parent level, we create and nurture our creations. Principles of creation are universal, wether they are applied to spiritual, mental, of physical forms. As creators, we may invent and envision, generate ideas, make things, and give birth to other human beings. We have the authority not only to create, but to bless our creations and to take care of them, leading them to perfection. In Truth, creative process is one of the most exciting experiences available to us as human beings. Expressing ourselves at Adult level, we act wisely and responsiblely. We think and make decisions for ourselves. We gain spiritual and mental stability which allows us "not to be carried about by every wind of doctrine" (Ephesians 4:14). We gather wisdom and understanding into treasures of our heart, and we share them with others as the Spirit leads us. We feel fully equpped to fulfill our mission in life. Expressing ourselves at Child level, we trust. We remain humble and teachable. We stay flexible and open to growth. And, what is the most important, our eyes are open to see the wonder and the newness of life. "Whoever shall receive this child in My name receives Me" (Luke 9:48), said Jesus. We receive our inner child in His name, by giving him/her proper attention and care. We are willing to communicate with our inner child and listen to what he/she says to us. If we find that our inner child still carries wounds from some traumatic experiences of the past, we are ready to comfort and to heal him/her. No minister of counselor will do it for us better than we ourselves. It is sad to admit, but our Child aspect, the one that needs attention the most, often is the most neglected. Love your inner child. As you will give love to your child, he/she will extend love back to you, and you will be surprised by the new level of wholeness and inner harmony that you will attain.
