Perhaps, one of the strangest passages of the Scripture is
Psalm 22:3, which says that God inhabits the praises of Israel,
or His people. What could it mean? We know that God is
omnipresent, that is, He is equally present at all places.
There is not a spot where God is not. However, His presence
is manifested just as much as it is recognized by people.
When we lift up our consciousness to God, individually or
collectively, we open a channel for great outpouring of
His love and power.
Praise and worship are far from being vain activities. When
they are done in the right spirit, with the right attitude,
they prove to be the best medical treatments!
Gods love is a healing love. Gods power is a healing power.
As we see it in the gospels, Jesus attributed healings to the
fact that the kingdom of God is near. The manifested presence
of God was bringing changes to peoples minds and bodies,
restoring them to wholeness. Divine healing was a vital
part of the Good New of Jesus, and we need to be aware of
it, as long as we want to be faithful to His message.
"The body is... for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body"
(1 Corinthians 6:13), wrote Paul. Traditionally, Christians
assume that the Lord is interested in their spirit and their
soul. For them, body is something corruptible, subject to
decay, and, therefore, inferior. But this is far from being
true. God loves our bodies and longs to restore them just
as much as He desires to restore our souls! His love is
extended to all parts of our being.
Bless Jehovah, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits;
When should we praise God, after our restoration or before?
My answer is "before".
Praise is an indicator of faith. Faith deals with invisible
realities: it gets hold of them in the realm of the Spirit,
and then it brings them into the visible manifestation.
When we praise God, irregardless of our current condition,
we recognize the supreme reality and the supreme authority
of His healing law and His healing love. We declare that His
law cannot be broken, and His steadfast love toward us never
ends. We confidently rely both on His law and His love.
When Paul and Silas praised God in the prison, as it is described
in Acts 16, their bonds and chains were loosened. But I think
this wonder would not occur if they would decide to withhold
their praise until their release.
When Abraham received the promise from God concerning the son,
he gave glory to Him (Romans 4:20), although the fulfillment
of this promise seemed to be impossible. No matter how impossible
our healing seems to us, it would be beneficial to us to walk
by the steps of his faith.
Not only faith sees the answer in the spiritual realm
it celebrates the answer.
Since Ive been able to see many people who received healing
during worship services and in their private worship, I came
to the conviction that healing through praise in not just
a nice theory. The best proof (and, perhaps, the only reliable
proof) is the proof of our experience. Wholeness is something
we all want to experience, and the good news is that God
already provided all that is necessary for our bodies.
Let us act on that knowledge.
Let us release our sickness and embrace our health.
Let us be thankful for the healing as we receive it.
T. asked us to pray for her son, C., who is currently in work release, after having spent time in prison. C. is seeking the Lord, but his family is concerned about his ability to cope in the world and his spiritual progress. Please, join us in prayer: Dear God, We ask You to grant C. the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know what is good and right for him. We trust that he will be lead and taught by You in all things, so that he could grow in the spirit and succeed in all his ways. We trust that C. will have faith and determination to stay on the right course, exercising sound judgment, being patient with himself and with others. We trust that he will not be afraid of lifes challenges, being aware of Your indwelling presence. We trust that he will be able to forgive and leave behind his painful past, knowing that Your love makes all things new. We know that Your will for C. is good and only good, and we pray in agreement with Your will. As we pray, we mentally see that it is done. Amen
