The Healing Rhythm
Part II
By Andrei Yashurin

A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
Ecclesiastes 3:5

There is a time for each one of us to be with people and to share ourselves with those in our circle of influence. There is also a time to be alone, in solitude with God, and to allow His Spirit to serve us.

People, who do not know themselves in God, often look for security in their relationships with others. They simply cannot distance themselves emotionally from people. But, at certain points of our life, it becomes a necessity. We cannot allow to be absorbed by others. We need to be ourselves to know ourselves, and to express ourselves. True love realizes that there is a time to refrain from embracing for us and for others involved as well.

A time to get, and a time to loose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away.
Ecclesiastes 3:6

It is vitally important not to associate love with emotional attachment and codependency. Love is free, and it grants the full freedom to others. In love, we let other people go and find their own way, if they choose to do so. We dont intrude into their lives, and dont accept their intrusions. We are not trying to manipulate them into doing what is right, and we are not subject to their manipulations.

It is amazing how often people are trying to change others, consciously or unconsciously. This drains their energy, and makes them feel unhappy. When we stop acting this way, we find that the tremendous amount of energy is being released into our life, enabling us to do what needs to be done by us.

A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:7-8

One of the most difficult things we need to face when we discover the cycles in our life and make efforts to adjust ourselves to them is the reaction of others. We will act contrary to the customs and expectations of many people, including those whom we love. It is highly likely that they will bring accusations that we hate them, or wage a war against them. Our firm dedication to the Truth that was revealed to us could be misinterpreted as selfishness. Our unwillingness to speak when we know it is a time to keep silence could be considered as pride. Every time this happens, let us remember that blessed are those who persecuted for righteousness for their determination to do what is right.

Conformism is the easiest way, the broad way, but it leads to inner deterioration and destruction. Everyone who is looking for spiritual development need to be aware, that the narrow way of self-discipline is the only way that leads to life.

Being conformed to God, we often are not conformed to the world of people and their thought patterns. We dont fit in not because we are proud, but because their box is too small for us.

What profit does he have who works in which he labors?
Ecclesiastes 3:9

Our profit or our gain is determined by our ability to adjust ourselves to the rhythm of the universe in its manifold aspects. Every farmer knows it. If he sleeps too much during the harvest time, if he is trying to sow during the winter, or, in other instance, if he is trying to gather the crop that is not ripe yet, he will be soon out of business.

The Truth is that no matter what is our occupation, we all are farmers. We all sow, and we all reap. Therefore, it is in our best interests to develop such a mindset that would allow us to recognize times and seasons of our life, and to stay attuned to them.

As the great sage Shakespeare wisely said,

There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.
