The Information Channel Felist.Com -*-------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNITY WAY April 21, 2002 ------------------------------------------------------ Adventures in God Part III By Andrei Yashurin Do something you fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 The first thing we need to know about fear is that it will always stand between us and our good. Therefore, the only possible way for us to break free from our limitations is to conquer our fears. Second, we should be aware of the fact that courage is available to us, because the Spirit of divine courage dwells in our hearts. When we establish a living connection with that inner Source, we are enabled to move forward with faith and determination, not being moved by our feelings. Like all God-given qualities, courage has to be nurtured and developed. Usually, it does not come to us in an instant. We can begin with small acts of courage, trusting that God will lead us further, empowering us to deal with greater and greater challenges. Let us find something that we are afraid of, and start doing it. Are we afraid to talk with people? Let us begin small conversations here and there. Are we afraid to change our occupation? Let us find a part-time job in a field that is new for us. Are we afraid to pursue our cherished goals? Let us do something about those goals today, not waiting for the next week or the next month. As we act in such a way, the self-confidence will grow inside of us, and we will enter into the joy of victorious living. Do something for others. The feeling of fulfillment and the lasting satisfaction comes to those who set up and achieve goals beyond themselves. The law of life is give, and it shall be given to you (Luke 6:38). It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 35). If it is not your habit yet, I encourage you to volunteer to do a work for a church or for a charity. Send a small donation to a fund or to a ministry. Smile to a person you meet on the street. Call to a friend or to a relative. Remember the last time someone asked you for help, and offer your assistance now. There are so many practical steps that we all can do to be involved into the life of others, that it will take volumes just to list them! But I dont have the time for all that, may complain someone. Let it not be our primary concern. As we look for opportunities to help people, we will often find that our time is stretchable. But I dont have the money to help others. The fact is that it is not the amount we give, but our giving mentality that matters. Can we donate one dollar a month? Surely, we all can start with that, and later we will surely find a desire and an ability to sow more financial seeds. As we do good works for others, let us not be disappointed if we dont see the desired results into their lives, or in our life. We need to act just because of our dedication to God and to His Truth. One of the keys to joyful giving is the lack of expectations. In our modern world of an instant gratification, we have to remind ourselves that it takes long time for some seeds to grow, more than we usually assume. And yet, no seed is ever lost in Gods world! Let us decide to expand our circle of communication and break the bondage of self-preoccupation. Let us allow the light of Christ, the unconditional love of God shine through us. Let us act as the children of Light and be the Light. Our greatest adventure is not waiting for us at some remote corner of the world. It starts here and now, right where we are. ------------------------------------------------------ You can read our current articles at the newly opened Web site, Positive Christianity E-zine: http://pczine.net ------------------------------------------------------ We invite you to share your prayer requests with us if you would like us to support you in your prayers.
