Part II By Andrei Yashurin
Adventures have to do not with where you go or what work
you perform, but who you are. Some people may travel around
the world many times, and learn nothing. At the same time,
others may be confined to prison cells, and change the
destiny of the whole world through their spoken words
and inspired writings.
The feeling of adventure is linked to the process of our
personal growth. In order to grow, we need to stretch
ourselves beyond our limits, to step "launch out into the
deep" not only physically, but spiritually, mentally,
and emotionally. When we will do so, we will discover
the truth about ourselves we never realized before,
and it will bring us new enthusiasm and excitement.
I would like to suggest you some practical steps that will
help you to live a life of an adventure.
Do something you've never done before. For example, have you ever attempted to learn a new language? Have you ever endeavored to study a course youve never taken in the past? Have you ever tried to write a poem or a story? How about learning to play a musical instrument? Why dont you do today this, or something else you want? Dont be just a dreamer make a detailed plan of expanding your personal boundaries, and stick to that plan. Let the constant search for new things will become your habit. Of course, you dont need to step over your moral principles in order to experiment with life. Just be aware that you have an inner guide that will help you to go through the discovery process. Trust this guide, the Holy Spirit within you. You dont have to walk around, asking others if this or that is allowed. I know that there are many religious extremists who would be happy to imprison you into their small world of "touch not, taste not, handle not". "Prove all things, hold fast to the good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21). 'All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit" (1 Corinthians 6:12).
My conviction is that Christians are called to be greatest inventors and innovators in our world. The reason for that is simple. They have an established connection with the Spirit of God, which provides to every open person a never-ending flow of new thoughts and ideas, which are divine in their origin. The greatest gift of God to a person is not a thing, but an idea. But if this statement is true, why then the majority of Christians fail to demonstrate this spirit of newness? One possible reason is that they are not looking for it. After adopting a certain set of beliefs and a Christian lifestyle, they become self-satisfied, as if now they have it all. Besides, in their daily lives they are still praying for tangible things, but not ideas. Do not resist an urge of the Spirit within you when He leads you into the process of new creation in you and through you. Creative self-expression is what God expects of all His children. (to be continued)
