Apostle Peter said that God's power "has given to us all
things that pertain to life and godliness through the
knowledge of Him who called us" (2 Peter 1:3). In other
words, all things that we need (both spiritually and
physically) in order to live happy and fulfilled life
becomes available to us when we grow in realization of
His will. Ignorance and short-sightedness have no rewards.
With so many health challenges that we ourselves and people
around us face, I believe it is necessary for us to know
and to understand the will of God concerning our healing.
You can often hear how sincere believers ask in their troubles:
"Does God want to heal me? How can I be sure of His will?
And if He really is the Healer of all, why my prayers are
not always answered?"
The answer of Jesus to the question whether healing is a will
of God is a firm and definite YES. When a doubting leper came
to Him, saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean",
His immediate reply was, "I am willing, be cleansed"
(Matthew 8:2-3). The same words can be applied to us even today.
When we see Jesus, we see the perfect will of God for all
humankind manifested. He came to do the will of the Father,
therefore, all His miracles were rules, and not exceptions.
God shows no partiality. He will do for us all that He did
for others in the past, as long as we willing to do all that
is required of us to appropriate His blessings.
From the facts that we know, Christianity was started as a
healing movement. Healing was an integral part of the ministry
of Jesus, and our comprehension of His mission will be incomplete
until we understand its healing aspects. First disciples
successfully continued this ministry after ascension of
their Master. Up until this day, there are thousands upon
thousands of people who restore health by turning to God and
to His healing ways.
Sickness and disease has no part in God's order of things.
When we pray, it is important to have such awareness.
Let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is
like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
Before we come to God in prayer, let us prepare ourselves
by affirming this Truth:
Wholeness is a natural state of my life. It is God's will
for me to be whole and well, in spirit, soul and body.
For some folks, such idea may seem too difficult to grasp,
because for so long they've been taught that God can send
sickness to someone as a warning, as a punishment for sin,
or as a lesson to learn.
Indeed, wrong thinking and living can make our body sick.
But in these cases, sicknesses are self-imposed, not God-imposed.
Let us not blame the Father of love and light for the things
we created for ourselves. He cannot be the Healer and
the destroyer at the same time.
When we are sick, God is eager to heal us, because He is
still moved with compassion, the same compassion that
motivated Jesus. When we need to change our thoughts,
attitudes and actions, He uses the Spirit of Wisdom
within us to lead us to the right way.
We can trust that He is going to deliver us from evil,
and sicknesses are definitely evil.
J.S. asked us to pray for healing of his wife J. from chronic headaches, and for the fulfillment of their desire to know God more intimately and to serve Him. Please, join us in prayer: Dear God,
We thank you for the gift of wholeness that is extended to all people. We know without doubts that it is Your will for us to be free from every kind of disharmony in our bodies, and we declare that this is true for J. We trust that You is our Healer, and Your healing power perfomes its healing work in J.'s body. By faith, we see her as complete and whole, lacking nothing. We know that the Your is the Spirit of wisdom, and, as this wonderful family seek Your guidance, the right path to serve You and to know You will be opened for them. Right now, you prepare their hearts to do all they are called to, to the glory of Your name. As we pray, we mentally envision that it is done. Amen
