Dealing with life and its challenges in many ways is
similar to walking on troubled waters.
So many things that are happening around us insist that
we are going to sink. It seems that we are doomed to fail
under the pressure of elements and forces of chaos.
It seems...
When we find ourselves in a dangerous position, when it
seems that our life is out of control, it is good to remind
ourselves that it only seems to be this way.
Peter proved that it is possible to walk on waters for a
simple person. And if we will look around us carefully enough,
we will be surprised to find out that the history knows
hundreds and thousands of people who were able to overcome
all the obstacles we can imagine. There were people who
recovered from incurable diseases and became free of
addictions. There were penniless beggars who found their
way to abundance of all good things. There were hard-hearted
and arrogant Pharisees who became gentle and humble apostles
of love and grace. There were moral failures who became saints.
This list can be continued on and on.
Peter's walking on water stands out as a great parable
of uncommon human achievement in the face of uncommon difficulties.
When your life seems to be out of control, remember that
there are mighty invisible forces active in this world,
that are far greater in their power that all visible
manifestations. You are able to make a contact with them.
You can establish a conscious connection with God, the Creator
and the Sustainer of all.
When Peter walked on water, he had to deal only with his fear.
He made an initial step, believing in Christs word. He continued
to walk, looking at Him. Only when his eyes turned away
from the Lord, the true focal point, his heart filled with fear,
and he became to sink.
What is your focus? What kind of words do you hear? We live
in the world that is filled with all kind of voices, and each
one of them tries to speak louder, calling for our attention.
We cannot listen to all of them at once; we need to make
a choice. What voice will become our guide?
Some voices are trying to terrify you. They insist that you
will perish. They assure you that you will fail. They say that
there is no hope left, your chances of safely getting out is
too low. They convince you that you are not adequate to deal
with life on the level where you are now, and command you to
retreat to a safe haven. Are you going to listen to them?
The voice of Christ is a "still small voice" that we all can
hear in the stillness of our hearts. Many of us know that it
is a voice of love, comfort, and reassurance. However, not
all the believers realize that the voice of Christ within
them is a voice of challenge.
Christ encourages us to come out of the boat, out of our
comfort zone, and to move on to greater achievements.
Our ability to listen to this voice and to act accordingly
is the true test of our maturity.
Until we dare to make a step out of the boat, we will never
experience our potential in its fullness. We will never find
out how much we can do, and how much God can do in us and
through us.
It you think that you need a miracle, dont pray for one,
sitting in a boat. Act in faith, and you will see the miracle.
This is the only possible way.
Have no fear. Someone counted that this, or similar phrase can
be found in the Bible in 366 verses, which is enough for every
day of the year. In so many ways, God is trying to convey
to us the message that, in Truth, there is nothing to fear.
