Mailing List Service Felist.Com -*-------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNITY WAY August 5, 2001 ------------------------------------------------------ AN OPEN LETTER TO MY FRIEND Dear A., I am writing this to you, because I love you. The Bible says that there is no fear in love. We assume that it has to do with our relationships with God, and it is correct. But I believe it also has to do with our relationships with each other. In true love, there is no fear to offend, and there is no fear to be offended. Only for this reason our relationships can be open and sincere. I am writing this to you, because I believe in you. I believe in your wisdom and understanding to deal with my opinions. Your love will help you to treat them in a right way, even if you won't agree with them. I believe in caring for others. But I know that the best thing we sometimes can do for others is not to do what they ask us. So, in response to your request to pray for you, let me say that I won't do it. I won't do it in a way that you suggested to me. You wrote me about a meeting that your group is going to have in a particular city, mentioning that it is scheduled at the same time with another meeting of an another group. You asked me to pray so that the people would come to your meeting, instead of another one. I will not do it. Here is what I say: Dare to believe in value of what you are doing! If you don't believe in yourself, it is ignorant to think that others will believe in you. And it is even more ignorant to think that God will show favoritism by blessing your unbelief. Each one manifests success in proportion to his (her) faith, and there are no exceptions. Don't pray to be such an exception, for it is impossible. I say, dare to believe that there is something in you that people need, there is something in you that people will respond to. I know that it is true, it is time for you to know. Have this attitude: "I am going out to bless my world!" "I am a light of the world!" "I am a channel of God, and the world needs me!" Don't pray for success. Don't strive for success. Strive to develop the spirit of excellence in all of what you are doing, and allow your success to come as a natural result. Become an irresistibly attractive, and your won't have to manipulate people into coming to you. Jesus never did that. You wrote to me, "Pray for me so that I make my priorities straight". My answer is this: You don't need my prayers for that. You are completely responsible for your priorities, and I mean, completely. It is not up to God, it is up to you to make up your mind what do you want above all else. The freedom of choice is the greatest gift of God. The truth is that He will never interfere with your choices, even if you will ask Him. The gift of choice is perfect and complete. Nothing can be added to it. Use it, and use it now. The other thing I wanted to mention is that the key to having right priorities is not using of your willpower, but an understanding of your identity. Know yourself. Know yourself as a son of God, not as a struggling human. Know who you really are, and you will understand what do you really want. Finally, you do not need to believe my words. You may try and prove them for yourself. Just try to follow them for a wile, and see if they will work for you. See if they will lead you to more freedom, more joy and more success. Try a new approach, for you can be amazed at the results. If not, you can always retreat to your old ways of thinking and acting. When people ask me what is my theology, I usually reply that I am interested in truths that can be used and applied. I am interested in Christianity that is workable, and I know that the things I said above work for me. Now is the good and acceptable day of the Lord. Now is the day of your salvation from something that holds you back.
