Imagination is not a talent of some men but is the health of every man. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Andrei (aka Unity Way)
"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine
eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye is evil, thy whole body shall be full
of darkness".
At a certain time of my life, this saying of Jesus
looked like one of the most mysterious to me. Of course,
I wanted to have my body "full of light", but did not
really understand what was the requirement.
It is clear that this instruction have to do with the vision.
In order to enlighten our life, we need to look at God,
ourselves and the world in a certain way; and the word that
Jesus used to describe the main quality of our vision is
"single".
"No one can serve two masters" (Matthew 6:24), said Jesus
right after this passage.
The teaching of Jesus have to do not so much with outer works,
but rather with attitudes of our heart. Let us consider the
fact that we can "serve two masters" by RECOGNITION of
"two masters", or two powers (the power of God and the power
of evil), in our life. This statement helps us to understand
the meaning of the "single eye".
To have an eye single means to recognize God as the only
active power in our life, to get rid from a dualistic approach
to all that happens. Can we really do that? Yes, of course!
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them
will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even
the hairs of your head are all counted.
Never let an idea that you live your life apart from God
settle in your mind. Never believe any suggestion that
you are not loved and not cared. Never think that you
are subject to evil. Never allow yourself come to a
conclusion that you are left at a mercy of powers of
this world. Boldly declare that there is only one
power in your life and in all of your affairs: the
power of the Love, the power of God! Overcome evil
with good. Overcome evil by seeing only good, by
believing only in good!
Some people may say, "I am confused, and I dont
know what to do. I am not sure in which direction
I should go. Is there a help?"
My answer is this: start by acknowledging God in
all your ways (Proverbs 3:6). You dont have to pray
to bring God into your life - He is already with you
and in you, waiting for your recognition. Start by
believing that all things work together for your
good (Romans 8:28) - all things, not just some of
them. Transform your thinking. Open the eyes of your
heart to see God all around you. Allow yourself to
believe that God is truly omnipresent and omnipotent,
and your faith will open a channel for Him to act in
you and through you. Clear your mind of all dualism,
and you will be amazed at the light that will shine
upon you.

"Be still and know that I am the God".
Some of the Christians become suspicious when you start
talking about the meditation the word itself became
associated with controversial teaching and practices.
Yet I believe that the meditation should be a vital
part of our spiritual life, and there is no equal
substitute for this method. "Test everything, hold
fast to what is good", advises us Paul. I do hope
that you will try to use meditation in your prayer
life and prove to yourself that it is a valuable
practice. And, perhaps, some are already meditating,
although they are never using this word!
To put it in simple terms, to meditate is "to be still
and to know" who God is, and who we are in Him.
Many people claim to have fellowship with God. However,
sometimes a question arises in those who observe them:
Does God have a chance to say something to them? While
in prayer, they do all of the talking. In order to have
a true "communion", we need to listen, and the essence
of meditation is a listening and an attuning of ourselves
to God.
In meditation, we set ourselves apart from the world,
physically and mentally, as Jesus did (Mark 1:35).
In meditation, we shut the door of our heart and mind
to all of the distractions, as He told us to do (Matthew 6:6).
In meditation, we listen in the silence of our hearts to
what God has to say.
We receive His instructions, empowerment and enlightenment.
We are being filled with the Holy Spirit.
God is speaking to us with a "still small voice", and in
meditation we open our ears to hear. We come to a place
of an openness and a relaxation, where we become most
receptive to Him.
Dear God, Right now, I choose to let go of all outer distractions and listen to You, to You alone. For this time, I am willing to clear my mind of all the clutter of a busy life and to focus on You and on Your Truth. I trust You with all of my heart, and I am at peace. I let go of every tension. There is nothing to worry about. There is no need to run to and fro. You are in absolute control. You are doing Your mighty work.
I declare that my mind is free and receptive to an
inflow of Your ideas. I find my refuge in the secret place of the Most High God within my soul, and I am grateful for His indwelling Presence. Let it be so, Amen!
