What's the point?

Did you ever taste hand shmuro matzos, which you baked with your own hands, together with friends, in the spirit of Simcha shel Mitzvah? There is nothing like it!

Why do I need the training?

Experience shows that training is critical, therefore it is required. We cannot sacrifice quality and Kashrus of matzos by allowing an untrained member to participate in the baking process. If you do not attend at least three training sessions and just show up for the Baking, even though there is a small number of activities requiring less training, at which you may still be able to contribute, there is no guarantee you will be able to join.

How much matza do I get and how much is it going to cost me?

Matza we bake will be split more or less equally between the members of the Chabura. It is considered good, if we produce enough Chabura Matzos, that every member get 4 pounds, although we have produced as much as 5 pounds per person in the past.

The total cost of the baking is thousands of dollars, but is pretty much fixed, so the final price of a pound of Matza very much depends on how much Matza we bake. In the previous three years the price of Matzo was within $10$14 per pound range, which is an excellent price. The Chabura is 100% Non-For-Profit and fundraising is being done to help bring the price into a reasonable range.

What happens to my deposit?

Your deposit will be used to pay for the matzos. Once you register, we absolutely count on you to attend the Baking on March 8 ^th, in a specialty that will be assigned to you once in the Bakery. If circumstances come up, and you will not be able to attend, please call Michoel Styller at 718-715-8965 as soon as possible. If you cancel after Shushan Purim, or are a "no-show" at the Bakery, your $30.00 deposit is going to be considered your donation to the Chabura, since everyone else will lose out without your participation.

How kosher is the matza?

The Matzo Baking process we use is in accordance with the highest standards of Kashrus. As in previous years, we have selected a few American Kollel Yungeleit, experienced at Matzo Baking, as volunteers assisting our Chabura, as well as a highly qualified Rav checking all of our matzos.

How do I prepare for the baking?

Before you come to bake, do not forget to eat well and wash out the mouth. You will also need to cut your nails as short as possible. Also, if you can, please, go to the Mikva on the day of the Baking.
